Neighborhood haunt serving big portions of American bar food in a cozy dining room & a lively bar.

The lunch was delicious. I had the pumpkin spice soup with a side sandwich, and both were full of flavor. My date ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with fries, and those fries were hot, crispy, and served fresh. The restaurant has a cozy bar and a charming atmosphere, especially knowing the building is over 120 years old. The wait staff were attentive, polite, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. I would definitely come back.

We had such a great experience at Village Restaurant! Mallory, our bartender/server, was absolutely incredible—friendly, bubbly, and genuinely happy. Her energy and customer service are some of the best we’ve had in a long time, and she truly makes this place a must-stop whenever you’re in the area.
The food was excellent as well. The salads were fresh and flavorful, and the house-made farm mozzarella—VERY lightly breaded and served with prosciutto, white cream sauce, mushrooms, and capers—was absolutely amazing. It’s the kind of dish you’ll be talking about long after the meal.
Between the great food and Mallory’s outstanding service, Village Restaurant is definitely a spot we’ll be returning to often. Highly recommend!

We flew into Hartford and drove to Litchfield (our first time to visit CT) and stopped for dinner at the Village Restaurant and were NOT disappointed. Friendly staff seated us immediately and Andrew did an amazing job serving us. The food was delicious (sorry I forgot photos) but I had the Sole with crab, my wife had the fried oysters and the claim chowder, and my sister in law had the meatloaf and all of us loved our dishes. We started with some delicious nachos as well.
If you are visiting Litchfield then I highly recommend dinner at the Village Restaurant.

Our dinner was wonderful! The black bean burger and fish and chips were delicious. The French fries are perfect. Will definitely be back.
We got bruschetta for an appetizer, it was fresh and the dressing on top was unique and very tasty.
There were lots of food options and a cozy atmosphere.

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful “town green” location. I started with a crock of chili, lots of ground beef and even more vegetables, topped with cheddar cheese and chives, served with the best cornbread ever. I then had two fried oyster tacos with a great spicy slaw and topped with a very yummy seafood romaulade sauce. Next, fried artichoke hearts that I loved but had to finish at home, I was too full. Debbie had some scrumptious clam chowder and a New York Sirloin cooked rare with fries. She liked it a lot. I really liked this restaurant, it was very busy but we got a great table in the bar area.

Just went for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! Luckily for us the corner place couldn’t seat us and we got to try this one out. Will definitely be back. The artichoke appetizer was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time!

The village Inn food is absolutely terrific. For their burgers, including the vegetarian and salmon ones, they use a beautiful bakery across the street. My vegan Kanata, olives and eggplant Pizza was really good. Do you know how difficult it is to make a vegan pizza taste good? Our server was really sweet and demonstrated the perfect balance of fawning and forgetting about us. One of our lunch guests had the crab and salmon cake and wow, did it look good! The whole of Litchfield is looking rather worn for its years. I used to go here decades ago with my husband, whose family lived in the area. It’s also a bit dark for my taste., In the middle of the day. But it still doesn’t take away the charm. Again, the food is really really good maybe on a day that’s not rainy and misty And generally grim, the atmosphere would be a little bit less leaden.

We took full advantage of Litchfield Restaurant week! Been to this establishment plenty & it really is so historic. My special guy loves to eat in a very low key space aka more quiet…he was very happy that we were seated in the dining part of the restaurant than the pub. Every spot you turned to were the “older” crowd, add to the fact that we were eating dinner earlier. Food is so delicious & drinks are made perfectly. Waitstaff wonderful, catering to you nonstop.
