We took full advantage of Litchfield Restaurant week! Been to this establishment plenty & it really is so historic. My special guy loves to eat in a very low key space aka more quiet…he was very happy that we were seated in the dining part of the restaurant than the pub. Every spot you turned to were the “older” crowd, add to the fact that we were eating dinner earlier. Food is so delicious & drinks are made perfectly. Waitstaff wonderful, catering to you nonstop.

In the center of scenic Litchfield Square where there are several restaurants for patrons to enjoy, we chose to try The Village Restaurant in late January. Warm intimate interior with an antique feel. Booths and tables are on one side of the establishment for dining and the bar is on the other side for lighter fare and drinks. Both have their own entrance doors.

A first time visit to the restaurant was very good. The food was good, and the service was okay. There weren’t that many people on a weekend afternoon. People who have mbility issues may wish to avoid eating here. The four front steps into the restaurant aren’t bad, but the booths are somewhat tight, and I’m not a large person. There is a round table near the front entrance that provides better seating. There is no wheelchair ramp that I was able to see.

Honey glazed Pork chops, with rice and Steamed squash and vegetables very good. White Russian Drink was excellent. Wife’s Chicken Parmagian was very good. The Brownie sundae desert was very delicious. Service was quick and friendly.

Went here on a whim as I was passing through the area. Have to say that I was not impressed. Service was very lackluster. Waitress at the bar made it seem like we were a big inconvenience being there. Food was average, and that’s being kind. Probably wouldn’t return here.

Best burger I have ever had. Fried calamari was fresh and very tasty. Buffalo wrap was also excellent. Service was extremely friendly. I highly recommend this cute restaurant.

I haven’t been to The Village in years and was thrilled when a dear long-time friend told me she was going to be in Litchfield and asked me to meet her here for lunch. The Village holds many memories from when I used to live in Litchfield and went here often. The crab cake was as good as I remember it as being, the service was efficient and friendly and the atmosphere conducive to old friends catching up.

Loud bar area (March Madness) and had to make a reservation just for the bar area, kitchen closes at 7:30 on a Sunday. I was at a high top table behind the front door and there wasn’t any room to walk down the aisle, because one of the patrons was standing in the middle of the aisle behind 2 people seated at the bar, and wouldn’t move so all the staff and patrons passing by were forced to lean over my table (awful feeling). The service wasn’t that great and very hard to hear the server over the bar commotion. I had the horseradish parmesan encrusted salmon. It was cooked perfectly but the flavor combination was awful. The crispy artichokes were delicious and the batter was light. The veggies were a bit too “Al dente” and could’ve been cooked a bit more. I recommend the “law school lemonade” for a libation. Bartender was friendly.

Tremendous food in comfortable surroundings. Fried oysters were not the usual frozen rather fresh oysters, breaded and fried upon order. Delicious, with homemade tartar sauce. The clam chowder, New England-need you ask, was full of flavor and with clam pieces as big as the potatoes. Friendly efficient service makes this the go-to place in Litchfield.
