We came into town to do our bulky laundry at the laundry mat and was googling a place to eat lunch. This place is in the same parking lot within walking distance so we decided to try it. I am so glad we did. The staff (some of which are special needs) were welcoming and attentive to our orders. We ordered sandwiches and the roasted vegetable soup. I was surprised that the soup was a thick blend porridge texture and not more broth consistency, but it was super yummy. We also ordered a 24 oz Mocha and a 24 oz Peach smoothie to go with our meal, which were delicious. We will be coming back to try the pastries and goodies soon.

It is so hard to find good gluten free bakery items that are not the typical gluten free taste. This bakery does a PHENOMENAL job. I already loved their gf cupcakes so I ordered my birthday cake from them. My non-gf friends and family said you couldn’t even tell it was gf which is hard to do. This only confirmed my fiancé and I’s choice to use them for our wedding cakes! Huge thank you to the entire staff and Abbey who handles the gluten free items!

We went for a school field trip. Everyone had a wonderful time and learned a lot about what it is to be a bakery. There’s a huge variety to chose from and it all looks wonderful. The kids all chose a dessert to eat at the bakery and some of the adults got sandwiches and treats to take home for dinner. Bonus, Santa was visiting and the kids were able to get pictures with him and do some visiting before he had to get back to the North Pole.

Not sure where I learned about this bakery, but it’s been on my travel map for a while. While visiting the area made it a priory to stop here and so glad I did. The service was great and the food was delicious. Tried the breakfast burrito and brisket croissant and recommend both. Got some desserts to go and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be coming back to the bakery when I’m in the area again next year. Thought the prices were in line with similar restaurants and bakeries.

I’m disappointed to write this, especially as someone who has spent hundreds of dollars here and has recommended this business to clients, friends, and family. We’ve always tried to support them, but this recent experience was genuinely surprising.
We ordered a dozen cinnamon rolls (nearly $100) for Christmas morning and were given a specific pickup time. We arrived exactly when we were told they’d be ready, only to be told they actually weren’t and to come back a couple hours later – which was right before closing. We understood and had no issue accommodating that, so we left and came back again as requested.
Unfortunately, when we opened them on Christmas morning, half had no icing. When my family called to ask about it, the person we spoke with (not sure if owner or manager) immediately argued that the icing was absolutely given and that she “never forgets.” Questions were shut down, and she was confident the mistake was on our end. She even went back to review the camera footage to prove her point – only to find out on the footage that no icing was given at all. Instead of acknowledging it, the blame was shifted back onto us for not noticing while we were running last-minute holiday errands.
She then said the only way to receive a refund was to return the rolls days later, long after Christmas and after they had been purchased specifically for that holiday morning. Being told to bring back days-old food to prove the issue, especially after the footage confirmed it, felt unreasonable and honestly disrespectful.
Missing icing happens – mistakes aren’t the issue. The issue was how it was handled: arguing with loyal customers, insisting we were wrong, confirming on camera that we weren’t, and then still making it our responsibility. For a business we’ve supported financially and through word of mouth, this was extremely disappointing.
I don’t want to harm a small business, but honesty matters. At this point we won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend this location anymore. A simple apology and a reasonable solution would have fixed everything in minutes, and it’s unfortunate that’s not what happened.

I chose this location based on their reviews. I needed to fulfill a birthday wish and interest in a custom birthday cake for our best friend’s daughter, who had shared and shown interest in a heart-shaped cake more than several months prior to her birthday.
I decided to call The Village Bakery on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 and spoke with Dana who became the custom cake baker, as it was 3 days prior to our best friends daughter’s birthday for a custom-made 21st birthday cake. I read the reviews and took a chance. I called out of state from Oregon as the bakery is located in northern Idaho to place an order as the bakery was near our friend’s place for pick-up.
The custom cake ordered was done by Dana. I appreciate her taking on the wish order and coming through with a wonderful and beautiful cake! Our friend’s daughter loved it and they loved the cake. The cake was a heart-shaped, chocolate cake with a German-filling cake. Our friend said it was one of the best-tasting German chocolate cakes she’s ever had.

Excellent! I called for a shorter notice custom cake (1 week out), and they nailed it! They had me send them a few reference pictures for the “galaxy” style cake I wanted for my wife so they could meet my expectations, which I really appreciated.
Very friendly and easy to work with, plus I couldn’t believe they do such great work for a great price.
