We ordered our wedding cake from here, and it was absolutely perfect—beautiful and, more importantly, delicious! We had it delivered to the venue; it arrived a little later than expected, but I had built in extra time, so it wasn’t an issue at all. The pricing was more than fair, and the staff was incredibly helpful throughout the ordering process. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience!

I ordered a cake from the village bakery for my friend’s 50th birthday party and it was absolutely incredible!!! Everyone was impressed and said the cake was so delicious and kept asking where it was from. I knew exactly what I wanted and sent specifications for a customized Pina Colada cake, but modern and elegant. It was fruity, but not overly sweet. The cake was fluffy but still moist. The frosting was soft and creamy. The whole experience was perfect. Thank you for helping make this vision come to life and the special occasion even more memorable. You definitely have my vote for anyone needing a cake in Houston!

I’ve gotten a few cakes from here over the years (at least 4 maybe 5) but this will likely be my last. Very sad about it because I don’t like cake in general, I only eat cake from this bakery. First, I asked for a strawberry flavored cake with strawberry filling, however I received a vanilla cake with strawberry filling. I always order the same cake and ask for it just like that “strawberry cake WITH real strawberry filling” so I’m not sure how it got lost in translation. My order was even repeated back to me. The taste of it was fine but it just wasn’t what I asked for. Second, I asked for a very simple design — plain icing with small pink hearts drawn all over, the hearts were so sloppy and barely any of them actually looked like hearts. It sucks because the website displays quite a few intricate designs but something as simple as hearts couldn’t be executed properly. I have also ordered this same exact cake before & it was executed well at that time. I noticed it upon pickup but didn’t complain because I didn’t have time for them to fix it so why bother complaining? But when I cut into the cake and saw that it wasn’t what I asked for I decided to leave a review. The cake itself was $200 and I don’t mind playing for quality but this was not at all a worthy experience.
This is actually the second time my order has been incorrect upon cutting into it. Last year’s cake was strawberry flavored but was missing the strawberry filling. That was amended and I was offered a credit that never expires which was nice and I appreciated that.

I was having a below average day. I took a slight different route home and saw this shop. A really nice guy behind the counter encouraged me to try the brownie– it was THE BEST BROWNIE I HAVE EVER HAD. I gave half to my neighbor because i like her. I wish they were open right now I’d buy 4 more and eat one in the car on the way home
Update: I came back for a brownie, and walks out with a freshly baked ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie. The people here are so nice and the place smells like heaven. Can I move in??

The village bakery was amazing! I did a custom order of tennis-themed cupcakes and they were exactly what I asked for. Terrific service, everyone was so kind. And the cupcakes were delicious! Thank you, village bakery!!

The Village Bakery was the answer to my every need this weekend! In creating a cake for my dad’s 90th birthday, I needed it to be soy free, which no other baker would accommodate, even with weeks’ notice. Richard, TVB owner, makes everything from scratch and has no soy in his products. He was able to leave out nuts from a carrot cake, the carrots were clearly fresh vegetables and in full evidence in each bite. The cake was unbelievably moist and perfectly spiced, with robust notes of cinnamon and a little clove.
But beyond all these most important issues, Richard was able to pull off an all-edible design using a 3D printer, ganache and his own ingenuity and creativity. I asked him to create a law dictionary and add a school logo, as well a birthday greetings, all with 3 days’ notice (I had given up for a while and found him with little time remaining).
Everyone, especially my dad, was enchanted by his work! I cannot recommend The Village Bakery and its owner Richard highly enough. If you have a special occasion (or even an everyday baked good need), call on him. His prices are very reasonable and his products are best in class.

I would highly recommend this place! I ordered a cake for my baby shower from this bakery and they executed the vision that I had for my cake very well. The cake was beautiful! The order for the cake was kind of placed at the last minute but they still got it done in a timely manner before my event started.
We got so many compliments on the cake not just on the looks but the taste as well. They did a wonderful job and again would recommend. I definitely will be a returning customer.

Cannot say enough good things about this place! We ordered a cake over the phone for my son’s 7th birthday, requesting a shark cake that a 7 year old would find cool and scary. We don’t live in Houston and we’re sure what we would get, but the reviews were encouraging and the guys were great to deal with. They killed it, making a two-tiered cake that looks just like Jaws coming out of the water. They even threw a severed limb in the shark’s mouth, along with lots of other great little touches. We were blown away at the artistry of it. Plus, the cake was delicious (great cake and icing flavor options) and was a total hit with the kids. 10 stars would recommend to everyone!
