Social Profile:

The Village Anchor offers a much-needed and unique setting in Louisville’s east end, both for personal and professional occasions. The restaurant’s look and feel are like none other in Louisville and, arguably, Kentucky. Two bars, the Anchor Bar and the Sea Hag, each appeal to a particular taste and rely on the other to offer one of the most spectacular experiences in the Metro area. The Village Anchor Restaurant and Anchor Bar on the main floor bring together stone, red leathers, rich worn velvets, wrought iron, dark woods, Italian appointments, Carrera marble, and the original crimson red beer taps from Churchill Down’s Silks Bar. It offers an upscale-casual, fun environment with an inimitable European flavor and exotic French flair.

Cozy eatery with a fireplace offering Southern chow, many bourbons & wines, plus a downstairs bar.

Took my bestfriend here for her last weekend as a free woman before she got married. This is a amazing place to celebrate . The atmosphere was wonderful and our server was outstanding. The food was even better just know when you go the food is expensive but worth every penny. We got an 1 appetizer and 2 drinks and 2 entrees and 3 desserts and 2 sides with tip it came to $200.

We visited without a reservation on a Saturday night, but luckily were able to get seats at the downstairs bar. It had such a cozy vibe! We didn’t have to wait long for our food, which we really enjoyed — the fish and chips especially was good. Overall I’d definitely recommend this place for some comforting Southern cuisine!

We came for Valentine’s, apparently with everyone else. We made reservations for upstairs months previous and had no problem with that. The line to get in was out the door. It was cold and starting to rain outside, so being stuck outside without cover waiting to get in wasn’t the best… nor was getting seated at a table just steps in front of the door, which remained open for the first 15 minutes (cold!). It seemed like they put chairs and tables closer together to have enough space to deal with the Valentine’s crowd. It wasn’t very romantic to be closer than arms length to two other couples. The tables were so close together that even a thinner patron and waitress had to turn sideways to walk between the tables. I liked the decorations a lot and especially enjoyed the paintings on the ceiling, but didn’t enjoy the noise level or how close we were to two other couples.

The food was expensive, of course. The fried green tomatoes were fine, but I’m not sure they were worth the price tag. The tomahawk steak was fabulous as were the sides, but that was a special and not on the menu. The cookie dough “beignets” were also great, and also a special not on the menu. I’m a little confused on why our neighbors got at least 5 of them in a pool of caramel and we only received 4 with a caramel drizzle. Maybe they were still sorting out quantities for the night? The cookie dough beignets also needed a little salt, which luckily we had when they brought out the steak; our table didn’t have salt or pepper beforehand.

The servers were all working their butts off and we had 0 issues with service. We got a champagne toast to start, plus chocolate covered strawberries (one each) for Valentine’s, plus the little Squishmallows card. Our drinks were never empty and the food came out plenty fast enough.

I do plan on going back and trying more of the normal menu items, even though the two things I enjoyed most were specials. Hopefully wherever we get seated in the future will have more space when it’s not a holiday.

I don’t normally write reviews, but was a little disappointed in our meal. We had a party of six and our server was good, we didn’t have any problem there. We ordered two appetizers, which were fine. My husband ordered the pork chop, which he said was very good. Three of us had the fish and chips, and it was fine but nothing special. The two others both ordered the filet mignon (which they get a lot when we go out). They both commented that the filet was very tough. I hated that for them since the filets are $55 each. We got 3 banana puddings with meringue for the table. Sadly, the meringue was so brown it was crunchy to break through. I finally took it off the top and ate the pudding without the meringue because it was so hard. I don’t know if it’s always served that way or if it was left in the oven too long. We were seated on the lanai, which I thought would be fine because it said it was heated on the reservation. By the time we left (2 hours total), 3 people at the table said they couldn’t feel their toes. There was plenty of heat overhead, but under the table was very cold. Our visit was just a little disheartening, because we were expecting it to be a better experience than it was.

Stopped in for an early dinner, the place is nice on the inside and out. The menu has good food and drink options. Wife had a cheese app that was very good and I had the salmon. The food was delicious.

Great brunch spot in Anchorage. Came the Sunday after Valentine’s and was seated promptly. I hade the biscuits & gravy which were wonderful. My GF oredered the chicken & waffles, also exceptional. However, the Goats Cheese Gateau app was truly special. Highly recommended…

Our server was awesome. We came on a chilly day and we sat in the same room as the front door. And everytime the door opened it was really breezy and cold. So the whole lunch experience was quite cold.
Also, the fish sandwich is probably one of the worst I’ve had. Almost all breading and it seemed like it had sat for awhile even though we went for lunch.

My grandfather loved the meat loaf sandwich though. Other than that it was a pretty mid place for the price. I can’t remember our servers name but he was super cool.

Great atmosphere and really good food. We had a large party, so our service was naturally a little slower. That’s the only true complaint we had. Again, the party was large, so that is to be expected from most places. The only reason I deducted a star for this is the fact that we did have a reservation, so I feel like this could have been better planned for. With that being said, the food was good and was presented well. One of the kid’s sweet teas was made with jalapeño simple syrup instead of regular simple syrup, and that led to a comical event. We were all caught off guard with it, and it was an honest mistake. Aside from that, our wait staff was attentive and had good attention to detail to everything else. Check them out if you’re in the area! You’ll get some good food and possibly some laughs.
