We live close and this was a first visit since it became The Villa. I so wanted to be pleased with our take out but was disappointed with every dish. Fried wontons, overcooked, inedible, threw them away. Boneless spareribs, 70% fat and grissle, undercooked, small portion , threw that away as well. House lo mein was best dish although very greasy. Chicken fried rice was steamed rice with some shredded chicken, should have read the review above, tasteless. General GAOs chicken was bland, best part about it was it was large chunks of chicken that had been trimmed well. General GAOs shrimp was under cooked served with the same bland sauce as the chicken. Both dishes came with steamed broccoli, flavorless. We ordered a spicy chicken with string beans. We requested extra vegetables at a cost of $3.50 and asked that it be ginger. We got broccoli, no ginger. String beans were good but there were four of us so they didn’t go far. To be fair I did order the meal and ask that it be prepared with no MSG. I have a feeling it would have be different if I let the MSG fly. $125 later and we tossed the majority of the meal, apologized to our of town guests we had just picked up from the airport and will chalk it up to live and learn.

Mai thai was ok. Bar tender was really great. Got a pu pu plater and some chicken fried rice. Boneless spare ribs were all fat and under cooked, chicken wings were really greasy. Beef teriyaki meh. Chicken fingers werent great either and the chicken fired rice… was it fried? It was steamed white rice with some shredded chicken. Strange. Unfortunately food was disappointing.

It took us an hour of looking for a place to have dinner while in the area and settled on the Villa. We are SO glad we did! It is the Chinese food Cheers. All locals other than us and we had a blast with them; especially the bartender Rosie. The Scorpion Bowl was enough to get both of us feeling good and the Garlic Ginger Tofu and Veggie fried Rice was delicious. Definitely NOT your sodium-filled/mass manufactured/MSG based standard Chinese Food.

Loved this place for years. Food was Very Overcooked and when informed the owner, they said that’s how it is. I’ll never be back. It’s easy to re-cook, easy and the right thing to do. Telling a customer they can’t deliver the same food you had for years that was not overcooked, after spending nearly $100, not acceptable

We read reviews and that’s what lead us to this gem so now I’m leaving one of my own! This place did not disappoint and I am pretty picky about Chinese food.. I can not stand most places that do the typical “cookie cutter” Chinese food that’s rush cooked and sits out during lunch/dinner hours and it all tastes basically the same! This chef farmed pride in his craft and it shows! Each item is cooked to order and the freshness of the ingredients shines through! We never take a chance on Chinese while we are traveling but I am sure glad we did this time! My only request- please expand your business and open a restaurant in western Mass as well I would love to eat your food regularly! Thank you for a great dinner!!!
