While at the dentist two weeks ago, dental X-rays showed a hole in one of my molars. I was referred to a specialist who I don’t see until Monday. After seeing my dentist again he ordered another prescription so it was off to Olympia to pick it up.
The script needed to be taken with food so it was off to find dinner. A quick search and we were right next to the Viking.
It is definitely an older building and has been around a long time. It was clean inside although there was still a faint odor of cigarette smoke from years of smoking patrons. It was not a deal breaker, especially as I am allergic to smoke.
Being a bar/lounge, it was dark inside so it took a bit to acclimate my eyes. There were several tables on what looked like an old dance floor so Ray and I sat up there.
The bartender came right over with menus. She was very friendly and welcoming. She immediately went over the specials which were on the board but on the opposite side of where we were sitting. The NY strip with baked potato, salad, and garlic bread for $17.95, sold both Ray and me. Medium rare, and loaded baker and honey mustard dressing and she was off.
Our salads came out first and they were huge!!! Lettuce, tomato, black olives on the side and cheese. All very fresh looking and tasting.
The cook served us. He likes to go a little bit rare on the steaks and told us he would throw them back on the grille if they were too rare. They were perfect!!!
The loaded butter for the baked potatoes, was well seasoned, and very good. It was served in a generous sized container. Ditto with the sour cream. The garlic bread was well seasoned too.
The cook came out to personally check to ensure the steaks were to our liking. That was a very nice touch and much appreciated.
While the Viking might not be much to look at from the outside, or on the inside, the service and the food more than makes up for the building. We will definitely be back!!! I want to check out their breakfast. If breakfast is anything like our dinner, we won’t be disappointed.

This is truly a proper dive/ bar, stumbled upon this place while traveling and was blown away that they were open for breakfast and have karaoke seven nights a week. Walking in, I was treated like a friend by the staff and even the other patrons, even though I had never been there. The menu is much more extensive than I had imagined, so I treated myself. I made a few new friends. They’ve got all the fun games like darts and pool, and even a little patio outback where you can enjoy smoking and drinking simultaneously. Is this going to be a regular stop for me when I’m in the Lacey neighborhood, that’s for sure

HUGE shoutout to THE VIKING LOUNGE for hosting my birthday celebration! I cant recommend them enough! From the super amazing bartenders to staff everyone went above and beyond, kind, organized, and literally catered to all my guests the entire night. Even with a big group of about 25 people, they made us feel taken care of the whole time.If you haven’t been, I highly recommend checking them out. The service, the bar foods, the vibes, the way they treated me and my guests… 10/10. I’m so grateful for how they made my night so special. Thank you to the whole team y’all are amazing!

If you love a good dive bar, here ya go!
We tried the burgers and fries and they were very yummy. Chili burger was such a large serving it couldn’t be finished. They offer a few different fry options which we loved. The staff was chill, they knew a bunch of customers by name. We had some good drinks too.
We do not live near here but if we did we would go back and try more of the menu.

I’ve been going year a few years with my bf, and friends. We normally love it and the food is amazing. Tonight was just strange. Me,my friend, and bf decided to go here after getting a bite to eat. My bf decided to go next door to a vape shop before meeting me and my friend at the bar. We were there for wht barely felt like 10 mins before my bf finally met us over. Security didn’t allow him through. Reasoning? “They saw him outside” ….he didn’t cause a fuss, didn’t argue ( but really wanted to learn what he did wrong in the span of 10 mins) we all were just confused in what warranted him not being let in. We never want to make staff or patrons EVER uncomfortable but in reality we were left uncomfortable continuing our business for the rest of the night. I genuinely loved having a local space but this night just left us feeling a little icky. We’ve never dealt with any interaction like that before.

Definitely what I’d describe as an “old school, hole-in-the-wall” bar/diner. We were pleasantly surprised with the reasonably-priced breakfast specials ( served between 8-10 a.m.). We had the French Toast special and the Eggs, Hash Browns, Bacon and Toast Special. For $7.50 and $8.00 respectively, it was a great value. Beverage included. Can’t think of the last time I got away with paying about $20 for two breakfast meals. The waitress was a real sweetheart of a gal. BTW, my dining partner is a black pepper fiend. The egg did not have black pepper on it. This photo is after he added his favorite spice.

I haven’t been here for a long time, it’s definitely a dive bar with the usual amount of local folks. Thier breakfast was great and the cost was good. Drinks were fine also. Kimmie is a great bartender, we’ll be back

Nice little bar just on Martin way. Good atmosphere with lot of activities like karaoke and bingo. Drinks are very good. The margaritas were outstanding. They seem to have a good selection of beers as well. Would go again.
