The food was on point. Good flavors quality ingredients and everything came out hot and well plated. The portion sizes were fair and the menu had enough variety without feeling all over the place. The drinks were solid too. Good cocktails and a nice selection overall.
If you’re looking for a laid-back place to eat grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere The Vig is an easy choice. I’d go back.
Food-wise, it was hit or miss:
• The hummus crudité was good but nothing standout; appreciated the generous portion of veggies.
• Nachos were good, especially the crema
• Pretzel was good, served warm, not too salty
• The grilled chicken chopped salad was much smaller than expected. Despite $20 price point, it felt more like a side portion.
• The Vig burger was overcooked and on the smaller side—nothing memorable.
Drinks were excellent.
Overall, it’s a great spot for drinks, vibes, and socializing. We’d return for the atmosphere, but the food didn’t quite live up to the setting.
During my most recent visit my normally excellent club sandwich was poorly made and the fries were stone cold when it was brought to me. I decided not to complain, every kitchen has off days.
While I’m eating the manager is standing next to the bar chatting with a friend of his complaining about the customers and how people are whining about their food, and this and that. He was also very short with the bartender when she asked for assistance during this chat, very unprofessional overall.
I decided to get a bread pudding to go, this is typically an excellent dessert. When I got home I noticed it was pretty burnt on top. After biting my tongue on the sandwich and fries I decided to call them on this one. The hostess took my information and said I’d receive a call back, that was 2 days ago.
Hopefully this reaches someone that can bring this place back to what it was. This was one of my favorite local spots but for now it’s time for a break.
The service was a bit of a mixed bag. Madison was wonderful—friendly and attentive—but it did take quite a while for someone to first come by and fill our waters. I even overheard the table next to us talking about how long they had been waiting, and I eventually saw one of the guests get up to flag someone down just to get water, let alone place an order. The odd part was that plenty of waitstaff walked by with water, yet our table and the one next to us were overlooked for quite some time.
That said, once the initial wait was over, the rest of the night went smoothly, and the experience overall was still great. I’d be happy to come back for the excellent food and atmosphere. It feels like a reliable spot to bring guests, especially since it’s just a few minutes from our house!
It was pretty breezy in shade on the patio but they did have patio blankets when we asked. There were sections of lounge seating in the sun and on the turf areas that seemed to be reserved for parties with children, which is a great idea letting kiddos move around.
Overall, the food was just OK in flavor, temp, and texture – my food was cold and the Bloody Mary mix was not good at all. Three of us ordered one and didn’t even finish them which is abnormal for us. Just flat, and tasteless and a bit thin/watery? Our starters were probably the bear part of everyone’s meals – calamari and burrata I would come back for! The outdoor ambiance is definitely unique. Maybe we were there on an off day (Saturday for brunch)?
