Such a cute dinner spot!!

The staff is so incredibly kind and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and great for pictures. I ordered the Peri Chicken and it was amazing! One of the best pieces of chicken I have had, it was so moist and not dry at all. It was a huge portion of food that I ended up taking some leftovers home.

Will be back here. Thank you to the kind staff and wonderful chef!

The re-opening of such a historic building comes with some understandable expectations and was really impressed with what I saw! The look & feel is quite intimate and it’s clear how much thought they put into making the space feel really cohesive and nice. Definitely worth checking out!

We ordered most of the vegetable dishes and they were all really delicious – very well balanced with lots of fresh herbs and gorgeous sauces. Wonderful wine list, as well, with more off the beaten path options. The cocktails were also a very creative use of no hard liquor license – look forward to trying more of them! Only drawback was that it felt a little expensive for the area and likely limits how often we’ll visit and invite local friends out to meet us. Maybe a couple meat entrees under $30 or serve them with more sides? Would love this spot to stick around!

From the moment we stepped into The Victorian at Hill Street, we knew we were in for a special evening. This review is long because every detail deserves praise. Our entire experience was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to a team that is clearly passionate about their craft.

Let’s start with the service, which was impeccable. Our server, Shelby, was the perfect guide—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. She ensured our glasses were never empty and that every course was timed perfectly.

The culinary journey began with Chef Lisa Rivera (of Hell’s Kitchen Season 24 fame) and her incredible team. The food was elevated to another level. We started with the Laffa & Tahini and the Tuna Carpaccio. Both were stunning, with vibrant flavors and beautiful presentation. For our mains, the Little Gem Salad was fresh and complex, the Peri Peri Chicken was succulent and perfectly spiced, and the Filet Mignon was cooked to an absolute perfect medium-rare, melting in your mouth. We ended with the Burnt Basque Cheesecake, a decadent and flawless finale. Every single dish was executed with precision; nothing was lacking, and nothing was missing.

The beverage program is already fantastic and promises to become even more spectacular. We enjoyed the Mary Shelly and the Grenache, both of which were excellent. The highlight, however, was meeting Matt, the mixologist. He took the time to visit our table and explain that they are in the process of obtaining their full liquor license from the California ABC. His passion was infectious as he described his vision: creating his own syrups and introducing seasonal cocktail menus. Based on his obvious expertise and enthusiasm, I cannot wait to return once the new drinks are available!

In summary, The Victorian is a gem. The trifecta of Shelby’s stellar service, Matt’s innovative mixology, and Chef Lisa Rivera’s extraordinary culinary talent creates a dining experience that is not to be missed. We left already planning our next visit. An absolute five-star experience

Absolutely loved my experience at The Victorian at Hill Street! The food was incredible — everything tasted so fresh and thoughtfully made, with amazing attention to detail. You can really tell the quality in every dish. The atmosphere is so charming and cozy, and the service was just as wonderful — friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Oceanside definitely needed a spot like this! Can’t wait to go back!

The Carpacio appetizer, the best I’ve ever had, so delicious. We both ordered the seafood (scallop, mussel & clam) dish in tomato base served with genuine sourdough toast; amazing. And, a side of sweet potato. We loved everything that was served.
We sat indoors and it seemed a bit noisy with a birthday group nearby. The group quieted down once dinner was served.

Excellent, thoughtfully designed food and drinks, beautifully restored building, and exceptional service; in particular they were very accommodating and welcoming to my father who has limited mobility. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Wow! What a great first experience. Location, food, and service were top-notch. Meghan recommended the grilled Vermillion, which was spot on. Fresh and bursting with flavor. This place is a must, and I hope it thrives here in O’Side. Tuna Carpaccio was a perfect app. I’d come back for the Corn Lemonade…so creative! 10/10 – will be back and frequently!
