Review: A Swanky New Spot with Potential

The Indy Vault Speakeasy is a compelling new addition to the city’s nightlife, successfully capturing the clandestine spirit of the 1920s right from the moment you arrive.

Atmosphere & Vibe
The speakeasy experience starts immediately with a fun, unique entry system: you must enter a code to get past the main door, which is a great touch that immediately sets the mood. Inside, the space is nicely divided, featuring a lively bar area on one side and a more intimate small dining area on the other. While the seating—specifically the booths—was a little unsettled, the overall atmosphere is cool and engaging.

Drinks
The cocktail experience was a tale of two drinks.

• My first Old Fashioned was excellent, perfectly mixed and highly enjoyable.
• However, the second fell short, noticeably missing the signature cherry, which impacted the overall balance.
• Rene, loved her cocktail—a very fruity concoction—and would absolutely order it again.

Food Highlights
We sampled a few items, finding both hits and misses:

• The Sticky Korean Wings were fantastic! They are on the spicy side and delicious—I had no idea what to expect, but I’m glad I ordered them for the table.
• I ordered the Dillinger Smashburger and it was a great burger overall, served with Parm Palm Fritz. Heads up, I ordered it “done,” and it still came out very pink, so thankfully I’m not picky!
• Rene’s Bootlegger BLT was the low point; she found the bacon to be overcooked and difficult to chew.

Service & Final Thoughts
The service, while starting off well, hit a minor snag near the end of our visit. To their credit, the staff acknowledged the issue and “made it right.”

The Bottom Line:

The Indy Vault is a cool spot with a truly engaging atmosphere and the potential to be a destination for great food and cocktails. The unique entry, excellent first drink, and fantastic wings show what they can do best. While there are a few kinks to iron out (consistency in cocktails, food preparation, and service flow), the commitment to fixing issues means I will definitely be back!

We were excited to try this place. The code was easy to get to gain access. We found out that the place was under new management, so they were still getting things the way they wanted it. Sadly, there is another entrance in case you didn’t want to take part in the crack the code theme. They are still working on getting the signs up so you know where to go. The staff was extremely friendly. They were lacking some items on their menu. So, hopefully, they get that all sorted out. But it’s definitely worth a stop in.

The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was dim and relaxing. The Bootlegger BLT was AMAZING, though! The frites were good with their Vault sauce. Even when they became cold. Now, onto the dessert. The Heist Brownie I would never order it the way it came. It looks good but it’s overly sweet, has too many chocolate chips, difficulty tasting the caramel, and no brownie (or at least in the traditional way of thinking of a brownie). It was creamy. No solid brownie in the dish. It was more like brownie batter with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce.

We had our monthly “Book Party” here for the @indybookandsipclub, and it was fantastic!

Service: The staff was super friendly and attentive. They made sure we had everything we needed. Harry the manager was super helpful and a great host.

Atmosphere: The vibe here is perfect for a book club meetup. Cozy and stylish, with just the right amount of background music to keep things lively without drowning out our conversations. The decor is trendy and comfortable, making it a great spot to relax and chat.

If you’re thinking about hosting an event here, don’t hesitate. It’s the best decision you can make!

Highly recommend this place for any gathering.

Our go-to spot for an old fashioned or nice pour of whiskey is now going to be our neighborhood go-to for a a delicious, quick bite.

Burgers were great, really appreciated the vegetarian option for my partner.

Fries were incredible, great blend of fresh herbs and grated cheese.

Can’t wait to try more of the menu. Thanks, Erica!

Great speakeasy in the Indy area; we will be back!

Stopped by for our first visit to find a fun puzzle that led us to the pass passcode for the vault door. Once inside, we were welcomed immediately and decided to sit at the bar in order to watch the drinks being made.

Everyone was wonderful, and the drinks were great. We tried a few rounds and found them all very good, especially the special the bartender recommended to us.

There is also a nice patio area if you want to venture outside. Well done and worth a visit.

Great food and service. I had the chicken Lo Mein and the spicy Korean wings. The Lo Mein did have a little heat to it too. All delicious.

Very cool secret place that you have to solve a riddle to get in. Thankfully, I had the company of my friends and we were able to get in. The place is nice and cozy. My only complaint is that the bathroom didn’t have mirrors and that was very inconvenient for me. Drinks and shots are delicious. I drink very rarely but I am glad I used my pass here. The music was very cool. They played jazz music and west coast swing music. If the place was larger, I may have as well danced. Overall, very happy atmosphere for a night out with friends.

We were so excited to try this spot, but underwhelming is a generous review. The bar tender, who stood talking to the few bar guests, indicated it would be 30 minutes before getting a cocktail. Then the server reiterated the message again after the bartender told her in front of guests it would be 30 minutes and she needed to inform the guests. We watched the bartener move at a sloth pace to make drinks. Do not go to this speak easy on a Saturday night if you to get a drink in less than an hour. Additional the vibes were very off (wrong music, dust collected around the decore, and subpar food). We had only appetizers and NO DRINKS!

One of the coolest bars in the state of Indiana. A must go to. Best Tequila Old Fashion in the state. Great inviting atmosphere and an easy place to relax a few hours at. Huge selection of whisky, bourbon, and tequila. Jason is one of the best bartenders as well. Love the $4 pie and have some very good appetizers.
