Not sure how anyone would eat at the varsity and expect anything but the varsity. In this instance you can’t rate a place on what it isn’t. It isn’t the best burger you’ve ever eaten but it will be the best varsity burger you’ve ever eaten. I say that because 30+ years after I ate my first varsity they still deliver. Of course the fry’s are a little limp, they aren’t processed crap…they are fresh potatoes. The onion rings are battered there on the spot. Combo numbers shouldn’t be on the menu but I see them. I hate that the old school crowd to the front ordering doesn’t exist anymore. You used to have to fight your way to the front and try to make eye contact with someone behind the counter if you ever hoped to eat. In some cases you’d get to the front and realize you were in the fry and ring only line. I left this review for the north ave original location but I have eaten at this satellite location and I thought it properly represented the V in a smaller less hectic package ….with that said most of the rest of my rant against bad V reviews is left below….Eat here if you’re visiting but understand what it is. It is The V! I’m partial to a couple of dogs (they should come with chili unless you ask for them naked), cheese stake (because I liked they way they smash them) and rings. Always ask for a side (which should mean some chopped onions in a little piece of wax paper) and don’t skip the frosted O or PC on ice and a pie.

There aren’t many choices for combo meals, so I ended up ordering things individually. Had a burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. The actual burger had no real taste, really just the pickle & mustard did. Got the onion rings. They looked crispy but were kinda limp and little greasy tasting. The fried apple pie was ok, didn’t seem fried, and wasn’t crispy as the menu suggests. Nice cinnamon apple taste, though. The Frosted Orange was the saving grace for the meal, which tasted great.
The inside seating area isn’t that big, only about 6 tables to sit at. Guess they do more drive-thru/take-out vs. seated customers. The employee taking the order said she’d bring it out to me when ready, and since all the tables were taken, I sat at 1 of the outside tables. After a few minutes, I assume it might have been a manager (since she didn’t have a uniform like the other employees), poked her head outside, and asked me my name. After confirming my name, she said they’ve been calling my name since my order was ready. When I walked in to get it, every guest turned and looked at me as I walked to the counter. Felt a little embarrassed.

There’s plenty of seating both inside and on the outdoor patio, and the bathroom was large and clean. It’s the perfect place for a bus load of hungry teenagers or for meeting after the game.
Another thing I like about this place is that they’re always customers dining in, unlike the deserted feel that you get when eating at some of the other fast food joints.

– The Glorified Burger was fresh tasting with a generous portion of lettuce and tomato.
– The Chili Cheese Burger was mediocre and seemed and dry, as if it had been sitting under a warmer.
– The Slaw Dog was very tasty and I appreciate the toasted bun.
– There was a generous portion of onion rings, but they were very greasy, and I would not eat them there again.

We love having a Varsity local for when we’re craving a burger, chili dogs, a frosted orange drink and more. So yummy!

The best Varsity location! Not overly crowded, lots of tables and booths, food fresh and clean bathrooms! Plenty of parking and easier access to dining for any potential handicapped folks, compared to their downtown ATL location. Located in the back of Town Center Mall parking lot, so very easy access. Can’t wait to return!

You can never go wrong with a visit the the Varsity!! I love this place. The chili on the hot dogs is first rate. The cole slaw is awesome and plentiful. The counter service is always great with folks eager to greet you and make sure your order is just right. And of course a fried pie for dessert is a must have

The chili dogs, chili steaks & onion rings were good as usual. The dining room was not as clean & well stocked. Every ketchup bottle was empty or almost empty. It appeared that there was very minimal staff working. The lady who took our order was very attentive with taking our order & getting it together. The men’s restroom was not very clean. There was paper towels all over the floor.

This past Saturday (1/28/23) was the first time my husband and two youngest children has eaten at a Variety’s and my first time at this location! My husband ate his chili dog and had started on his chili burger before I was able to get back from taken my youngest to the restroom. Needless to say he really enjoyed his food! I had the two slaw dogs and onion rings and everything was great!
The service was great and fast! The restaurant was clean as well as the restrooms.
We will definitely be back whenever we are back in the area!!

Have any one eles notice the change in the red skinny little round frank. They have really gotten smaller and less tasty. Like everything else in this country. Giving you less gotten smaller and the price has increased. I will not be visiting The Varsity ANYMORE!☹️

I hadn’t been to this Varsity in a long time, mostly because a new one was built nearby. With inclement weather, the drive-thru was the only option, and service was quick—probably because we were essentially the only ones there. We decided to eat in the parking lot as a spontaneous little treat.

We ordered chili dogs, onion rings, and a Coke. Honestly, it was the most disgusting meal we’ve ever had here. The chili tasted like bland taco meat with just a hint of spice, and the onion rings were so greasy it felt like lard was clinging to my teeth after every bite. The only thing we could actually finish were our drinks.

Really disappointing for a place that used to be a fun, casual stop. Just from the few bites we had, we were both sick on the way home.
