Definitely going back
Instead of calling it a night, we decided to venture out and try something new something we’d never done before and that’s how we stumbled upon Valley House in Malvern, PA. And let me tell you… what a find.
Despite the place being very busy (the Eagles vs. Commanders game had just kicked off in the first quarter), we were immediately welcomed by an energetic, friendly staff. The atmosphere was lively, the crowd was great, and the vibe felt just right especially with an important Eagles game on the screen.
Our waitress, Traci, was absolutely phenomenal. She was attentive, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. When we had questions about the menu, she didn’t hesitate to give her genuine opinions and thanks to her, we didn’t miss a beat when it came to choosing the right dishes.
I’ll admit, I didn’t read my menu selection thoroughly and overlooked that bacon was included (I’m a vegetarian). But without any fuss, Traci immediately had it corrected and the replacement came out impressively fast. That level of service, especially during such a busy time, truly stood out.
Now, let’s talk about the food.
The bread deserves its own moment. My best friend ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and described the bread as “to die for.” I had the shrimp po’ boy, and the hoagie roll was perfection crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. So good that I ate the entire sandwich, which says a lot because I’m usually someone who taps out early, especially when there’s an appetizer involved.
Speaking of appetizers, we shared the eggplant, mozzarella, and tomato, and it was absolutely delicious. The French fries were solid, the sweet potato fries were excellent, and honestly everything we tried was very, very good.
Between the welcoming atmosphere, standout service, and consistently great food, Valley House made a lasting impression on us. We don’t even live in Pennsylvania, but if we’re ever back in the area, this will absolutely be a return stop.
Thank you, Traci, for being such an awesome waitress. We truly hope you see this review and thank you, Valley House, for turning a missed reservation into a memorable dining experience.
Gotta say, im very impressed by this place. I didn’t think much from the exterior and because where it’s located, but they brought the good.
I wish I could’ve gone for dinner because I was in the area around 2:30 pm, but I do not live near there. Here’s the breakdown on way I had:
Food: ordered mushroom soup, buratta Della casa for an appetizer, and split a vodka chicken sandwich between me and my girlfriend. It hit on all the notes. The mushroom soup, was creamy, flavorful, and did taste over buttered or like they used too much flour, like some other places. The Burrata della casa was topped with arugula, had caponata (eggplant, sauce, onions, etc.) on the bottom, and was drizzled and rimmed with a nice balsamic vinegar, and had a nice fat hunk of buratta embedded within it all. This was plated with some delicious bread, that was fantastic. Highly recommend.
The chicken cutlet, was a reminder of something from Brooklyn, NY delis. Flavorful, crispy, thin, and sliced to go perfectly on their bread that they get delivered daily from a deli (I asked because it was so good). The vodka sauce with cheese in combination, needed a little salt, but I won’t complain because the quality of the package was there. I would order this again or maybe the Italian if I was going for lunch just to mix it up. As I mentioned, I really wish I could have tried an entree, but there’s always next time.
Service: Emily was great, very nice, and since it was not time for a certain item, she said she could check with the kitchen to see if they could make it. She checked for two dishes, and they were willing to make both. It was quiet because it was Sunday, but the bar was full. I don’t know if this contributed to our service, but it was quick, polite, and nothing short of fantastic. She acommadated by bringing extra items asked for, and remembered the order without writing it down. Emily was awesome.
Atmosphere: The bar is great if you’re going to watch sports and have beers. Nice U-shaped layout and people seem friendly enough here. The diner is small, more intimate, but nice. I only gave 4 out of 5 stars here because it maybe can use some updating and be reupholstered, but I understand that is not cheap.
Overall, this place deserves your business if you pass by. I would definitely go again as I was happy with it all.
Sat at the bar for lunch on the first Saturday of March Madness. Wood tones make for a warm bar area, and memorabilia with nods to Philly sports and music legends are a cool touch. Very solid beer selection with a variety of styles both craft and staples, strong bourbon menu and cocktail list. The cheesesteak was excellent – fresh soft seeded roll, cooper sharp and whatever else you like, I did fried onion and hot peppers – it’s awesome. Also had the bee sting wings which I’d get again.
Then brought my family for Sunday lunch and sat in the dining area which is separate from the bar. Big TV so you won’t miss the game, too. Kid’s menu offered plenty of options. Had the Italian cutlet sandwich which was really good. Excited to try one of their smash burgers next time.
This place has a lot to offer. Whether hanging with a few friends for drinks, taking the family for lunch or dinner, or happy hour after work, Valley House can handle it.
