This was our first time here after driving past it for years. Don’t wait years to come here!!! Savanna the owner is an inspiration with her enthusiasm for wine and reminder to enjoy life! My husband and I both had the custom wine flight and it did not disappoint. We took two bottles home and cannot wait to go back to get more.

What a wonderful experience. There is a large assortment of wines from across the world to choose from. The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us complimentary tastings and helped us hone in on what we wanted. The building is large and uniquely styled. I would highly recommend checking out this hidden gem.

What a cool space, run by an awesome woman!
We had been wine tasting all day but none of them were all that exciting. The wine flight by Savannah were all winners!
The venue is spacious with cool and interesting art, furniture, and walls. Come in and look around!
Eat before you arrive. Hang out on the funky couches, under the taxidermy buffalo!

Savannah is just a delight host, she’s taught me tons about wines from her wide variety of imports all around the globe, and her descriptions are absolutely spot on. Also the atmosphere is very cozy, it’s impossible to say the least about her and her tavern. Definitely in my list of favorite spots to sit in at historic downtown independence…

This business is a gem. Savannah knows her wine and the wine tastings are both delicious and educational. She has a large selection of wine available by the glass and by the bottle.
The business doesn’t have food, but you’re free to bring your own food and enjoy it with wine, seltzer, cider, and/or beer available on site.
The wine bar also has a larger area available for events.

Afternoon fellow adventure seekers of Oregon! I had the pleasure of visiting with “Savannah”, the owner of The Valkyrie Wine Tavern in Independence, Oregon. What a gorgeous place filled with great nostalgia and a delicious variety of wines for every special event in life. Savannah is not just another pretty face, but a passionate woman about her love for quality wines. I don’t know the correct terminology of wine components, but Savannah sure does ( all I know is I like to drink red wine!) I sampled three wines; a French Rose, Chardonnay, and a Red. Savannah’s descriptions for each we’re amazing and educational. I was mesmerized by the French Provence rose bouquet to the peppery prickly pear of Baden Germany only to fall in love all over again with a velvety red wine from Argentina. Mask required, public restrooms available for customers, cash & plastic accepted for purchases. Hours of operation vary due to the COVID pandemic check website for the current scheduled times.

With an ever-changing menu, somehow the food never disappoints! It’s tavern style cuisine, often with a New Orleans influence from their talented chef. I don’t usually order reuben sandwiches, but I gave it a try on this last visit and wow! Wish the whole menu was small plates to share, everything is so good. They also have a large selection of wine, beer, and liquor with plenty of open space to bring a large party or maybe host an event. If you’re looking for a tasty dinner or a place that stays open late, definitely visit the Valkyrie.
