Amazing everything. Went for brunch on a Sunday. The hostess, waitress and staff were so kind. We ordered a ton of different plates, everything was delicious. We tried the Butternut squash soup, spinach and artichoke dip, fried green tomatoes, avocado toast, the pear salad with cajun grilled chicken on top, and of course the truffle French fries. I will absolutely be back.

We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. The building itself is nice. It wasn’t peak time, so it was very calm and quiet. As soon as you walk in the aroma of good food hits nicely when hungry. We ordered the crock of French Onion Soup. This was literally one of the better ones we’ve had. My sister ordered the Shrimp Tacos, my brother ordered The Union House Burger and I ordered the Union House Reuben. We were all very pleased and full. Flavors were nice and portion size more than enough. Would definitely return.

Visited a few times in the past couple weeks. First experience was a bust. We sat at the bar each time. First time bartender took crazy long with our order, it was nearly an hour and we only got nachos! When they arrived, they were a pile of disappointment. The chips were paper thin, nothing was layered in, it was a pile if chips with stuff put on top. They also forgot the beans. Next visit we tried the fried green tomatoes, they were very very good! Our bartender was very attentive as well. The brussels sprouts were hard to eat, and we both love the things! They were burnt. The biscuits enticed me each visit for whatever reason so we finally ordered them and were sad we did. They were incredibly dry and served with a tasteless greasy substance on top that I imagine was some sort of margarine? The oysters seem to be very popular. The atmosphere is sports bar but its not so loud you cant hold a conversation. If you visit? Get the tomatoes, steer away with the delicate nachos.

Our Prosecco Gaslighting Experience

Our food was good, service was fine at the Union House BUT… well listen to this…

My wife and I left the kids with the babysitter and visit for a date night. I get a glass of wine, my wife gets a Prosecco.

Now our drinks come and the Prosecco is completely flat. Zero bubbles. We both notice and think it’s strange, so when the waiter comes, we mention it.

He says “Oh, that’s a ‘still’ Prosecco. You should’ve asked for a sparkling one. Let me get you a different one.”

So if you know anything about sparkling wines, you know that “still” Prosecco isn’t really a thing unless you’re in Italy and specifically hunting one down.

The waiter brings another Prosecco – this time a Rose – and again, it’s as flat as a soda that’s been opened for a day and a half.

We finish our meal, but the story isn’t over.

On the receipt we notice the Prosecco brand is “Brilla!”

See, because my wife and I have no kids for the night and nothing better to do, we stop at the liquor store on the way home and grab a bottle…

We get home, open it, pour it, and lo and behold, BUBBLES!

In fact, 30 minutes later, the Brilla is still bubbling away.

So, what most likely happened is:

A: The Union House reuses bottles that have been opened for a few days.

B: The Union House improperly stores their bottles, which can lead to a complete loss of carbonation.

(Neither of these scenarios make a sparkling wine dangerous to drink, just not as fun.)

Now if the waiter hadn’t so confidently said that we were served a “Still” Prosecco, we probably wouldn’t even have thought about it twice.

But since he did, either the waiter is being intentionally misleading or he’s unaware and has been instructed to mislead guests.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Had a blast at the restaurant! I definitely should have played the trivia night it would have been fun to do so. Waitress was on point and I believe a manager stopped by to see if our food was good. Burgers were cooked perfectly and the Fried Chicken was amazing. Will definitely eat here again and will take some photos next time. Great times!!

Exceptional brunch here. Had the Shroom Omelet and the Biscuits and Gravy. Absolutely cleared both plates. And our server Jamie was delightful.

Tried this place on a whim to take my dad out to brunch and it wasn’t super busy and was really solid.

We had a family members 95th birthday at The Union House in Dec. 2024. All of the food and staff were excellent as always and our guests raved with appreciation for the venue and the menu. Upon the recent passing of a relative this January, there was no question that after the service, his repass would be at The Union House. Once again, we were not disappointed. Thank you to Catherine, the owner, and all of her staff for making a sad day as pleasant as possible and being so accommodating and easy to work with. The food and service couldn’t have been better. I highly recommend it!

Decor is slightly odd and even how the tables and booths are set up seems crowded but actually it’s deceptively not. It appears well kept and clean. Service was attentive and friendly. Now there was an extended wait on the food. BUT once the food arrived it was hot and delicious. I had fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. The tomatoes were excellent!! The shrimp were big and cooked well with lots of seasoning. I would recommend more grits but it was a good dish. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal.
