It’s Scary To Remarry
Our first time at The Ultimate Kitchen was good! The atmosphere gives a vibe for 21-35 year old demographic.
It’s a small area, but there’s plenty of tv’s and they have a live DJ. The food was great! I had the waffle burger, my Wife had chicken wings, greens and yams. If you want some good soul food, The Ultimate Kitchen is the spot

Tried this for the first time. Went with some coworkers, definitely a good vibe and atmosphere. Small, but food and service was amazing. The oxtail egg rolls were really good and that sauce was hitting. My server Ebony was attentive and fast with service. Definitely going back!

Terrible experience with The Ultimate Kitchen food truck at TSU Homecoming on October 17, 2025. I ordered brisket loaded fries and waited over 44 minutes, only to be told they ran out. Instead of offering a refund, they gave me buffalo tenders I didn’t ask for and refused to make it right. I watched customers who ordered after me get their food first, and the attitude from the staff was unprofessional. If you can’t serve what’s on your menu or respect people’s money, you shouldn’t be running a food truck. Never again.

I had an amazing brunch experience at Ultimate Kitchen in Houston! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the catfish and grits, waffle, and the apple pie egg rolls, and every bite was a treat. The catfish was perfectly seasoned, the grits were creamy, and the waffles were fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. The apple pie egg rolls were a delightful surprise—crispy on the outside and filled with warm, spiced apple goodness.

The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made me feel truly welcomed. It’s clear that the team at Ultimate Kitchen takes pride in creating a great dining experience.

I will definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a top-notch brunch!

Why so serious
The Chicken and Waffles were good. THE WAFFLE BURGER WAS HORRIBLE ( very salty whole bottle of salt), chewy hamburger meat, eggs over cooked, just horrible). BE ADVISED THEY CHARGE 20% gratuity!!!!!!!!! I don’t understand why most of the black businesses charge gratuity. There was only 2 of us!!!!! First and last time. Too many places to eat that are way better than this place. Almost forgot, the DJ was on point but that food SMH.

Review: Ultimate Kitchen – A Culinary Experience Worth Trying

Nestled in a location that might initially give you pause, Ultimate Kitchen proves that first impressions aren’t everything. While the exterior and parking situation (limited spaces, including spots at a nearby gas station) leave room for improvement, the food and atmosphere make this establishment a hidden gem.

The Ambiance

Step inside, and you’re greeted by an amazing vibe. The music selection is on point, creating an inviting and upbeat atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. While the tables are short and paired with bar stools, the energy in the room more than makes up for the unconventional seating arrangement.

The Food

Now, let’s talk about what really matters: the food. Ultimate Kitchen delivers flavors that exceed expectations, proving they are a force to be reckoned with.

1. Oxtail Loaded Fries
These are nothing short of phenomenal. The fries are served hot and crispy, topped with tender, perfectly seasoned oxtail meat. The rich, savory sauce ties everything together. This dish is an easy 10/10.

2. Shrimp, Catfish, and Grits
This Southern classic was executed to perfection. The catfish was fried hard, but not overly so, maintaining a satisfying crunch. The shrimp were sautéed and well-seasoned, while the grits had the ideal creamy consistency. The sauce? Simply amazing.

3. Chicken and Waffles
The waffle was hot, fluffy, and cooked just right, while the chicken was crispy, well-seasoned, and fried thoroughly. Together, they made for a dish that hits all the right notes.

4. Breakfast Platter
From perfectly cooked eggs to buttery grits that didn’t need a single additional seasoning, this platter was a breakfast lover’s dream. The bacon was crisp, the waffle was perfectly powdered, and every element was cooked to perfection.

5. Margarita Flight
The margarita flight was a standout. Each flavor was balanced and blended consistently, offering the perfect complement to the meal.

The Concerns

As much as Ultimate Kitchen shines in the food department, there are areas for improvement:
• Plastic Utensils and Napkins: The utensils and napkins seemed flimsy, more in line with dollar store quality than what you’d expect from a restaurant serving such high-quality food.
• Toast Pricing: Charging $2 for a single slice of toast, listed as a dinner roll on the receipt, felt excessive—especially since the toast itself was barely toasted.
• Gratuity: The 20% gratuity is automatically added, which some may find inconvenient, especially when dining in smaller groups.

Final Thoughts

Ultimate Kitchen opened its doors on November 4, 2023, and it’s already making waves as a standout spot. This Black-owned business, led by Ms. Tammy and her son, deserves recognition—not just because of their story, but because their food truly delivers.

Support this gem for its exceptional culinary offerings and help spread the word. Despite minor concerns, the flavors, vibe, and heart behind this establishment make it a must-visit.

Interesting spot. Cool vibe. Cute and sweet waitress. Food prices are high for the quality/what you get. Loaded Oxtail Fries was a good and unique choice and priced well. Huge portion and tasty. Only criticism was too much BBQ sauce. Waffle Burger was sub par. Low-quality meat, hard-fried egg, dry. Not a $20 burger. Also, 20% gratuity is included and not mentioned. Itemized receipt should still be standard, and waitstaff should always let customers know that tip is included. Most likely would not return unless it was to sip on some frozen drinks, which weren’t available for our visit.

My experience at The Ultimate Kitchen in Houston was a major letdown. The picture speaks volumes, y’all be the judge. I am not trying to discredit this business. Hopefully, they can fix these things to improve for a better dining experience.

The food, staff, owner and Avery were AMAZING! Thanks for being so customer focused with me & my sistas! The oxtail tacos, oxtail fries and the fried fish were absolutely delicious! I didn’t know until I was leaving that you also feed the community. May God continue to bless this business, the owner (who by the way is hands on) and the staff. We will patronize when we return to Houston again.. Thanks for the positive experience…❤️

First time visiting this quaint little gem on OST. Our server greeted us at the door and seated us. I ordered Philly cheese eggrolls, fish and grits, white cranberry mimosa carafe, and apple pie eggrolls. The fish was fried to perfection and seasoned well. I kept telling my server how delicious the grits were. Service was top tier. The DJ had the people dancing. It was great experience. Karoke is on Thursdays. I will have to check them out.
