Wow what a hidden gem!!! Luckily I saw it on the map because you could drive by and not even see it hidden and tucked away! Such a nice little stop on our long drive!! Came in for a minute to let the van cool down and they had fresh filtered ice water , the kitchen was closed when we got in so didn’t get to try the food but I’m sure it’s great! I love a place that doesn’t serve tap water !!! A nice fire out back to chill and is a dog friendly place, my service dog came in and hung out too. The owner and bartender was so nice and I love the atmosphere! Everything he built with the wood from the trees he cut to build the place ! So it just smells amazing in here!! I know my dad would’ve loved this place! And it opened just in April of this year! Definitely support this place and add it to your stop if you’re on a drive or local. I’ll definitely come in any time I’m in the area!! Everything was so well thought out and every detail and interior design is just amazing!!! Love the stage maybe next time I’ll sing a few songs! Good tunes playing too!

We have been there several times and it always is a great experience. Best bar food around ! Great selection, Nachos are our favorite and the burger selection is first rate. Interesting decor. Bartenders and thevwait staff are very nice and polite. We make it a point to bring out of town guests here, they alway have positive coments as well! It is nice to have a place like this near our home. We look forward to warmer weather so we can enjoy the outdoor space. Additionaly every time we have been here the owner is on the premises barbacking, running food and cooking. This illustrates to me the commitment of running a first rate establisment.

I visited The Ugly Mug three times during my week-long visit in Spencer.
I ordered the loaded cheese fries, the BEAST burger, and the Philly Burger. Not only was the food visually appealing, but the taste has my mouth watering as i write this.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to all. The music was fantastic from the live band to the in-house playlists, personally created from the owner himself.
How could I forget the friendly and attentive service from the staff? From the bar to the table service, there always is an attentive staff member looking to help.
If you are driving through town, stopping here is a must!
You may also want to check for the specials as they always have something new to try!
Looking forward to my next visit to Spencer as this place is one of the must visits in town!

Delightful restaurant just off the main drag but also out in the woods! The food is just fantastic especially for being out in this area. huge bar indoor and outdoor seating front and back plus fire pits plenty of parking and really friendly staff what’s not to love? Highly recommend the pork loin sandwich and buffalo chicken sandwich. Also daily specials we got the pickle spears and they were briney perfection. Local craft beer on tap too along with a full bar! If you are visiting the Calfkiller brewery in Sparta or the Fall Creek Falls State Park this place is such a good dining option you need to give it a try!

We were heading home to Knoxville from Nashville and seen this place while looking on Google Maps. The interior looked really cool so we thought we would drive the 18 miles out of the way! The bar had very friendly staff and great food! We had a bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries and an order of onion rings. Our PBR and Michelob Ultra was nice and cold! Toni was an awesome bartender, highly recommend.

This place seriously wows with the decor, shout out to the owners for a stunning atmosphere. Everything was clean and well thought out. I seriously loved every single detail in this place from the gorgeous leather barstools to the tile in the bathroom. The porches are warmly lit and inviting, the one in the front has more tables for dining while the back was more to hangout and also had a nice stone fire pit. The waitress said they were going to be adding cornhole and some other things outside as well.
The food? Best french fries I’ve had in forever. Me and my husband sometimes just want some fries and a cold beer and this will be our go to for that now for sure. The wings were perfectly cooked and the Wahoo sauce was fantastic! My husband had a cuban and said it was better than the one he just had in Tampa. Three different Calfkiller’s, Guiness and I believe 2 other beers on tap so good selection there.
Staff was incredibly friendly and inviting and the only reason I gave a 4 star there is that some aspects were SLIGHTLY slower in the service. But nothing that would ever prevent us from returning and having a great time, and we were in no rush!
Music selection that was playing was also perfect. Can’t wait to see some of the live music artists play here.

Went for a date here with my wife this evening. The food was excellent, both of our buffalo chicken sandwiches were juicy and flavorful and there was plenty there. Enjoyed a few of the local Calfkiller brews with our meal. The folks that own and manage the place and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to going back for another date, it’s great to have a restaurant like this right here in Spencer!

Great spot on the top of the mountain! Cozy place, great service, and great food! Had the pork loin sandwich with loaded fries this time. Prepared and cooked perfectly, and the homemade cole slaw on top was amazing. Full service bar with multiple local brews on tap. Nothing but great things to say about Ugly Mug!
