This place was awesome! HIGHLY RECOMMEND especially if you like visit something that takes you back in time. The staff dress from the 20’s era or so. It is in the basement and has a great bar area and then seating area is cool. The food is excellent and drinks are good. It was our first time there and definitely will visit again. You must put it on your bucket or places to go list.

Artichoke dip, too cheesy and not that good Beef brisket sliders, hardly any meat You know you’re in the wrong bar when you ask the waitress for Honey Jack and she responds, “we have honey to pour on your food” And I’m not kidding either ! On the plus side, I’d only sit at tge bar, have a drink and enjoy the music and atmosphere..

This was easily top 5 worst service experiences I’ve ever had in my life. It was so bad, my partner and I quickly made the decision to sit back and stay silent. Just to see what would happen. We spent an hour waiting to be seated (totally normal and fine), spent nearly 3 hours in the establishment only to enjoy two drinks a piece. Idk if I look like I bite, but this was my literal thought process. Good thing my partner and I are easy going and can keep each other entertained. Other wise, this would have gone down has a horrible Valentine’s Day! I put 2 stars bc I’m willing To try again. Next time I won’t sit back to see if the waitresses want to do their job. The bill was $83 and some change, left $85. I don’t know another way to send a message to “be better” without addressing said person and most likely ruining their day. Perhaps that’s what the staff needs, a slight kick-in-the-behind. I love leaving a good tip. Maybe I didn’t get served bc I don’t look like I leave a good tip? Or because my partner and I are a younger couple. I’m not sure. These are a few of my thoughts and questions I am left with after my experience in the Trap Door. Very displeased and confused however.

This is a very unique place. It definitely has the feel of what I would imagine a Prohibition Era speakeasy would look like. The staff is very professional but yet nice and easy to talk to. The food and drinks are very elegant without out an air of pretension.

Many of us were in town to celebrate a wedding and were staying in Clare. Our waiter Jonathan welcomed a large unexpected group (like 15 us!) on Thursday night like a champ. Service and the drinks were really good. A handful of us returned late Saturday night after the wedding and Jonathan again was remarkable in his service, kudos to the bartender for the exceptional drinks (sorry didn’t get a name) and we also met Morgan, our lovely young host. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food. A must see!

Can’t imagine a better selection of snacks and drinks! The blueberry bruschetta was out of sight!
I do think the feta dip should have the option of being served hot and bubbly! But even as a cold dip it’s so good!
The male host with curly hair was incredibly friendly and our server (blonde woman in a golden flapper dress) was so nice and helpful. Everyone made it awesome!

Such a fun and cool place to hang out. The atmosphere, staff and cocktails are all Top Notch! And the prices are very reasonable. A place you definitely want to kick back and relax at with your friends . So much fun. Definitely will be back!

This was one of the nearest places I have ever been to. I had a smoked whiskey for the first time. It was amazing! Our waitress gave us tips for enhancing the experience and we really appreciated it. I have now recommend to all of my friends that we make a repeat trip up to Claire again for this!

An absolute hidden gem in Clare! Huge selection of amazing craft cocktails. Their old fashioned is one of the best I’ve ever had. I’m challenging myself to try at least 2 new cocktails a month here. Definitely a must-try in the Central Michigan area.
