I visited this establishment on a Wednesday around 11am and was pleasantly surprised to find parking right in front of the building. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and greeted me with a smile. My drink order was taken immediately, and my appetizer came out right away—those fried banana peppers are definitely a must-try!

For my meal, I ordered the brisket tacos, which were flavorful, though I was too full to finish. The grits, however, deserve a special mention—they were clearly made with love and care. Huge thanks to the cooks for such a memorable meal. I’ll definitely be returning!

The service, staff and food definitely 10/10. My good was seasoned perfectly and the Jackie’s Morning Rita was top tier. We had the BEST waitress I’ve experienced in a very long time, Brittney was naturally kind and attentive. Kudos to Ms. Collette for her attitude and ensuring that we were pleased. I’ll definitely be returning. It was definitely worth the wait!!

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of going to The Toasted Yolk Cafe. This place really impressed me from the time I walked in the door to the time I left.

Walking in, the place was booming and busy, but we were seated within minutes. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I loved the painted walls they had a mural-like feel to them.

The staff was great. I sat and observed everyone for a while, including the owner and two managers, and man, what a great team. This is a fantastic Black-owned business that deserves to be packed every day I mean, a line out the door!

Now, let’s get into the food. Since this is a brunch place, I naturally had to order from both menus!

The first dish I ordered was the bacon cheeseburger. Let me start off by saying you get what you pay for here. The prices are reasonable and affordable, and the portion sizes are huge! Now, back to the burger this thing was massive and juicy, even with it being cooked well-done (my fault, I didn’t specify medium-well). It was still good nonetheless. Not much more to say about it, but that’s not a bad thing. The burger gets the job done. Solid 8/10.

The cheese grits, y’all, were so good a perfect blend of cheese and creaminess. Each bite had that slight black pepper kick. I cleared that bowl in seconds. My only complaint was that it needed just a pinch more salt, which I added myself. Whoever the “big mama” in the back is with the flabby arm stirring the pot I appreciate you so much! 9.5/10.

The breakfast burrito was freaking massive, man. When it hit the table, I was in utter disbelief. It was stuffed with everything the eggs were cooked perfectly, it was filled with cheese on the inside, and smothered with queso and salsa on top. What more could you ask for? All the flavors were there, but the downside was that it needed more seasoning. The eggs especially needed a bit of salt and pepper. That’s the only reason I’d give it an 8/10 as well.

As you can see, none of the food was bad at all. The only thing that held it back was the slight and I mean slight under-seasoning. Please go support this place ASAP.

P.S. My grandmother ordered the biscuits and gravy, and it was absolutely loaded. She loved it and said she could tell the biscuits were homemade.

Server was quick with the initial visit to my table, but took quite a while to come back for my order. My food arrived after a table of 2 that had ordered after me. . The breakfast burrito and hashbrown casserole were tasty. I requested Verde salsa, but it wasn’t available from the kitchen. There were a couple different mild hot sauces on the table.

Positive experiences: This was our 2nd experience. The food, our first visit we ordered the blueberry doughnuts and Reuben sandwich. The doughnuts are hands down 5+ stars. The sandwich was okay. Our current visit, we ordered the pork chops w/eggs with Hasbrown casserole and Egg White western Omelette. The pork chops were served hot and juicy. The egg white omelette was okay. The biscuits was very tasty. Those biscuits would be next level with some homemade jelly. The hashbrown casserole was served hot and oh so cheesy and good. Service: It goes without elaborating, could be better. Our server, Ms. Asia, while I can write all the faults, it would be a disservice to her to dismiss all of her efforts to say she was not up to par. When she was truly working and undoubtedly not at a slow pace, so KUDOS and many blessings to her .

This is a cook to order restaurant that gets busy and there will be a wait. When busy be prepared to spend 20-30+ minutes for a table and another 30+ until you receive your home cooked meal. The environment is set up to sit back enjoy the folks you are dining with, while the servers are trying their best to get it right for you.

The food was great! So let’s get into the real problem, the staff. I arrived at 9:00am this past Saturday, it’s important to note another couple was right in front of me. I was seated quickly but sat for about 10 to 15 minutes before anyone came. No one stopped to say they would be there is a minute. The hostess didn’t say anything. All the servers just kept walking by myself and the other couple like there wasn’t a server for our tables. Finally a waitress came to take my order. I would have left had I not been waiting on my brother. She never said sorry for the wait. Meanwhile the other couple never got a waitress and ended up walking out. I also noticed most of the ppl sitting on the benched tables also lacked a waiter for long periods of time. Again the hostess was just seating ppl seeing everyone was looking around for wait staff but she never went to check on the issue. Or maybe she didn’t see, maybe she didn’t care idk. I do know even though the food was good the service and timing was extremely poor and I probably won’t support any time soon. Having to wait is one thing but everyone acting

Everything about the toasted yolk was phenomenal — from the warm blueberry donuts that practically melt in your mouth to the lively music playlist. The portion sizes, the temperature, the flavors, and even the season all complemented each other perfectly. The service was equally outstanding; our waitress was very sweet and offered some excellent recommendations.

We went around 10:30am, right before the brunch surge. Everything was good! The shrimp and grits were 10/10, chicken sandwich 8/10 fries were 9/10 (they weren’t cold but could have been hotter), and BLT was loaded with bacon and 10/10, we had French Toast too 10/10. The atmosphere was bright and inviting. The staff was friendly. I’ll definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Absolutely Horrible Experience !! Do Not Recommend !!

I came here with a party of seven for a book club meetup, and this was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

From the start, the wait time for even the basics (drinks and water) , was completely unacceptable. The staff had no sense of urgency, and management or leadership was nowhere to be found the entire time. We arrived around 11 a.m. and didn’t leave until 2 p.m. 3 hours of my Saturday wasted mostly just waiting.

During that time, several things went wrong:

One of my friends turned over the SALT shaker, and a green bug dropped right into her eggs. When we alerted the staff, they came back and said, “That’s not a bug, that’s pepper,” while bringing the same plate back to the table. Why would you ever bring that back to us?!

Multiple items we requested were never brought to the table.

When my food finally arrived ( the Fire Roasted Peach Cobbler French Toast ) , it was completely unappetizing. I didn’t expect it to look exactly like the menu photo, but it was burnt, old-tasting, and nothing like the description. After waiting so long, I didn’t even bother sending it back because that would’ve meant another hour of waiting.

To make things worse, the checkout process was chaotic. The waiter mixed up orders and payments, adding even more confusion. And the audacity to not give one of my friends that paid in cash back all her change back!!

When I was asked if I wanted a box for my basically untouched food, I told them no it was inedible. Despite all of this, there was no offer to comp the meal or make things right.

This entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. Poor service, terrible food, zero accountability. I will never return to this establishment, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The food was great! I had classic eggs Benedict with the hash brown casserole and it made me happy dance. There was a bit of a mix up on a coffee order but not that big of a deal and the food and great service more than made up for it. Shabazz greeted my bff and I at the front and was so nice throughout our time there, as was our server and I’m sorry to say I didn’t get her name, but she was bubbly and sweet with a friendly smile and was so kind. The restaurant is cute and very clean (bathroom too). Loved my first visit here and will definitely be going back!!
