Reviews
This place is super cool, they turned an old barn into a great bar, great sitting options inside and out with comfy couches, pool table, lawn games, and live music.
The service was slow to start but our server made up for it with graciousness and attention.
We both ordered the tuna melt (mine was gluten free). It’s really just a tuna salad sandwich as it wasn’t toasted – no “melt”. But it tasted good. Good fries too.
I had the Viognier which was absolutely amazing.
We will come back for sure.
Redneck bar/restraunt just need a little but of work on your burgers
BACKSTORY
My friend Mike got a recommendation for a restaurant bar in Grants Pass. Specifically a whiskey and wine bar with great food. He wanted to treat me to some good food while I was in GP. So, I am game to try anything new… I’m glad we did!
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Upon pulling up, we noticed the parking lot was completely full! Good sign!!!! He has a big truck and fortunately somebody was pulling out and we took the last spot. When I walked in, it looked very relaxed. No one greeted me at the door so I walked through to look for a place where we might land and enjoy our evening. We settled on a tall table in the back porch. Heaters were on… It was comfortable!
SERVICE
We were greeted by a kind waitress. She handed us our menus and came back promptly to take our drink orders. I’m a big water guy and throughout the entire evening she made sure my water was filled. Service was excellent! Between our waitress and the owner periodically checking in on us, we had an incredible evening.
ATMOSPHERE
The atmosphere is relaxed. Tables are spaced out. There is garden style seating, restaurant cafe table seating, and plenty of space to move around. They have a cornhole tournament area and fire tables. There seems to be music periodically because there was a stage set up in the back. Simple relaxed, nice atmosphere … like a combo of my backyard with a bunch of friends laughing while being served by excellent caterers… Easy place to relax!
FOOD … EATS
We were not too hungry so we ordered flatbread and potato chip nachos. Excellent bar food with a gourmet twist. Food was flavorful and served hot! Check out my photos of the potato chip nachos with Carnitas on them. Delishhhhh!
BOTTOMLINE
if you’re looking for a nice whiskey bar with good food or you’re looking for a wine bar with some excellent tapas in Grants Pass, Oregon… I recommend you check the Toasted Barrel out!
By the way… The owner retired from the crazy corporate world. She fell in love with this old 1930’s barn and turned this community beauty into a delightful place to experience whisky and wine and hangout with friends! Check out the history wall and check out what she’s doing… You won’t be disappointed.
We ordered 2 of the whiskey flights (they are willing to mix and match which is fun) nachos flatbread, bruschetta, and the dessert board .
Everything was beyond amazing. Can’t wait to come here again
A friend of mine & myself were on our way to the oregon coast from the southeast corner of Idaho and decided to stop for the night in Grant’s pass.
We checked into our Airbnb & decided to grab a drink. We picked the wrong place.
We stood at the bar asking for a drink only to ge completely ignored & watch everyone around us get walk up and get served immediately. As if we were invisible. After about 45 min total being here we decided to leave. The only reason im giving a ☆ is because I can’t give them a lower rating. If your in grants pass. I strongly suggest find a different place to grab a drink.
3 slices of the round processed turkey (cheap). I wouldn’t even make this for myself! On a bun with a slice of melted cheese. It was so disgusting I started laughing. Fries ok. This place won’t last long in this area.
Servers/bar tenders were lovely.
Would also suggest having fries (or Cajun tots) and more burger options on the menu. Was looking forward to some country fries with a burger, but bummed to learn they don’t have fries and one (but tasty) burger on the menu.
This place has a lot of potential and we had a good time, just a few things to improve upon that would make us really want to come back. We came on their anniversary and the live music was great. Hope this local gem continues to thrive.
