We waited about 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order, and another 10 minutes before a local guest helped get the attention of the owner’s cousin, Chris, who then took our food order without any concerns — again, fully seeing our service dog. By the time our food arrived, we had already been seated at the bar for roughly 45 minutes.
A few minutes after receiving our food, Chris came back and told us we couldn’t have our dog at the bar. We were completely willing to move to a table and politely asked where we could go. His response was, “I don’t know where to either.” At that point, we simply asked to pay our tab, even though we had just received our food and drinks.
While we were trying to quickly finish our wine and leave, the owner approached us with an aggressive attitude, repeating that we couldn’t be at the bar with the dog. When I asked him to please chill out as we were actively trying to leave, he responded, “Don’t tell me to chill out I own this place.”
This restaurant has only been open a few months, but with that kind of attitude, it’s hard to see it lasting. As restaurant owners ourselves, we know firsthand that this situation could have been handled professionally and respectfully especially considering service animals are legally protected.
We are truly not people who complain and fully understand how difficult the restaurant industry is, which makes this experience even more disappointing.
We are now somewhere else being treated like royalty!
Chris and Ernie have a nice establishment and a good set of employees that are friendly and personable. Highly recommend this establishment and hope it thrives here.
Mayo and Mary are our favorite bartenders. They are so kind, thoughtful, and take time to learn about your life and drinks. I love a place that remembers what’s going on and your drink; regardless if you are there 1x a week or 3x a week.
They are also Georgetown’s real sports bar, highly accessible, flags up for sports, tons of screens, pool tables and my favorite… a quarter machine.
They also have a patio for dogs with water bowls and are pet friendly, which isn’t common in Georgetown.
Honestly it’s a vibe and Georgetown has needed this for a while! Excited to have it.
