My partner & I took our first roadtrip together from Des Moines to Kansas City on 10/12/2025! The Thirsty Gnome was the first place I could find with a great menu with a lot of different delicious appetizers & a full bar (I really value places that can make me a yummy cocktail) I ordered a Margarita with Cuervo, it was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed the pitcher of Grapefruit Mimosa with Tequila in it (served during their brunch specials) – truly some of the best Mimosas I’ve ever had. Then we dive into the menu trying Pretzel Bites & Gnome Stools (breaded fried mushrooms) – I highly recommend both, so impressed! The bartender was extremely attentive & friendly. We enjoyed a game of pool as well. I really dig the chill atmosphere & the stage inside. I happily took home a pint glass as a souvenir of our great experience at the Thirsty Gnome! 5 Stars! Cheers!

We both got the Taco Thursday special. $1.75 tacos, the shells we’re nice and crispy and there were plenty of fillings. Great service the only thing is it was a little loud. Some acoustic panels would really help in this place.

The Thirsty Gnome is such a gem in Kansas City! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is cozy, fun, and welcoming. The drink selection is fantastic—creative cocktails, great beer options, and everything is clearly made with care and quality in mind. My favorite dish is the chili cheese fries – both are amazing on their own but together are the best. The staff is friendly and make you feel right at home without being overbearing. It’s the kind of place you can go for a relaxed night out or to celebrate something special. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in KC!

This bar is a great place to eat, have some beers with friends, play pool or watch sports. I had the chicken tenders, they were very good. the beers were cold and the bartender, Christie I believe, was attentive and friendly. the bar stools were the most comfortable i have sat in. the chips and queso were made fresh. I will go again.!

I stopped in today for a business meeting and had the Chicken Caesar salad. It was really good! My guest had the tenderloin and it was as big as his head. Great food and Amazing service. We will be back!

Chili was delicious. Chips & salsa were pretty good, however their salsa tastes sweet, so not sure if it’s made in house. I’m not into sugar/sweet salsa. Other than that it seems like a great hangout. Bartender (Debra) was very nice made sure I had plenty of everything.

It was quite when we got there. But soon after the chiefs game was to start. They only had one poor girl running the bar and all of the tables, so although we got our food fast and fresh, we never got the chance to ask for condiments and she didn’t get the chance to even bring the bill until we waved her down. Honestly not her fault but maybe they need to look into staffing better on game days, as it is a “sports bar”

Nice little bar and grill. Had the Prime Rib open face very good, kids had chicken strips said they tasted burnt. Gnome caps(mushrooms) were delicious.
