It was one of the best experiences ever and definitely what we needed as someone who is working and living in a busy seasonal place.
The food and drinks were nothing short of exceptional. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly crafted with care and high-quality ingredients. The wine selection and cocktails were equally impressive—thoughtfully curated and expertly mixed.
The atmosphere is intimate and serene, with a timeless, old-world charm that sets it apart from anything else on the island. The décor is exquisite—classic yet cozy, with rich details that make you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you slow down and savor the moment. The Terrace & their staff was the highlight of our time in Edgartown. We experienced one of the best meals that we have had in a while. The attention to detail and quality of service was second to none. We even came back for a second evening – they remembered us, our lovely conversations from the night before and even our orders (the gnocchi and martinis were so great we repeated the meal two nights in a row). We loved learning about the hotel, its history, and the way in which this is a special passion project for the owner – it truly shows in every detail. We appreciate the neat dress code as well as the reminder when calling to confirm the reservation.
Vince was particularly hospitable. He went above and beyond in helping us feel welcome and even arranged for us to enjoy drinks prior to our reservation in a beautiful corner of the hotel.

Absolutely loved my experience at The Terrace. I came with 3 girlfriends on a Wednesday night at 6:30. The Charlotte Inn itself is incredibly charming and cozy with dark interiors and an eclectic collection of art and knick-knacks.
We checked in at the hostess stand and were taken directly to our table. The dining space definitely evokes the feeling of being on the terrace even though it is enclosed. Do note that the space can be quite warm.
Service throughout the evening was efficient and attentive. Cocktails came out quite large and quickly. For dinner we started with the cheese plate and the potato gnocchi which was absolutely divine. For my main course I had the Statler chicken which I really enjoyed but was suuuuper garlic heavy. I only mention this in the event that you are in a hot date.
Cannot wait to come back!

Oh the Terrace, what a surreal experience. We have been coming here for years but now with Chef Patrice at the helm, the food is superb and exceptional, more so than ever. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic date night with a special someone or just with yourself. It’s fancy, over the top, decadent, incredible – but they make you feel also right at home, if home was as fancy as the Terrace. I did a chef’s tasting with a friend and dear lord, it was amazing! A must when in Edgartown, the space is a photographers dream because the light is just beautiful and you can capture all the dishes in such a spectacular way!

Part of the Relais & Chateaux club, the Terrasse is classy. Not overseeing the sea, they have outside table in a cosy garden. Quiet with a nice service, dishes are well prepared. The only thing was that the lamb chops had a cheesy flavor that nobody understood from were that came ♂️. The wine list is extensive with rather heavy prices. Overall we had a good time but regretted not to hv any sea view.

The food, however, was borderline bad and the entire experience was not worth the high cost. Their pretentious dress code and cold staff would be something I could look past if the food was actually good but we were all left very disappointed.
The scallops were extremely salty, making them hard to eat. The chicken was the most insulting $56 dish I have ever seen. It looked so unappetizing which the rice, diced chicken, and sauce that were all the same color. The lobster was nothing special.
Two in our party ordered the lamb medium rare and both were well done. It was easy the worst lamb dish we have ever been served.
While the property is lovely, it is not worth the ridiculously high prices for poor food. We would not return.

Absolutely delightful hotel and restaurant. From the ambience to the service we felt so welcomed and cared for. The prices definitely match the quality and the Dover sole was probably one of the best dishes I have had in my life, and I have been to over 30+ Michelin star restaurants. The staff was so welcoming and helpful without the feeling of pretentiousness. That is a delicate line to walk and they walked it with grace. Will come again!

While the ambience is delightful, and the service impeccable, the food didn’t meet our expectations. My salad ingredients were fine, but the dressing was sour. My lamb wasn’t the melt-in-your-mouth kind that the $70+ price tag justifies, and my wife’s lobster tail was chewy. The dessert was delicious, making for a happy ending, but a disappointing experience. The following evening our meal at the Outermost Inn reminded us that an excellent meal can be enjoyed in a lovely setting and with attentive service.

The dishes felt overpriced for what was served. There was little to no attention to presentation, and the flavors were nothing special. The flounder dish, in particular, tasted like something from a budget diner—not what you’d expect given the upscale setting and prices.
As for drinks, they were just as underwhelming as I remembered from our last visit. I ordered an Old Fashioned and was served a glass filled to the brim with ice, rather than the expected large, single cube that preserves the drink’s integrity. It felt careless.
It’s a shame because this place has real potential with its incredible ambiance. Sadly, the culinary side doesn’t live up to it .
