Tea Kettle in Old Saybrook is hands down one of the best breakfast spots around. Their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches are always amazing, and the variety of specialty pancakes is unbelievable. There’s something new to try every visit. The biscuits and gravy are also a must; comforting, flavorful, and perfectly made.

Today I tried the blueberry vanilla vodka French toast, and it was incredible: sweet, unique, and absolutely delicious. Their coffee and cold brew are consistently great too, which is a huge plus. They have a huge menu with many paleo or gluten free options as well.

If you’re looking for a spot with delicious food, generous portions, and a cozy, welcoming vibe, Tea Kettle is definitely worth the trip!

This place is THE place for pancakes. It’s a lovely little spot with nice outside seating.

Their pancake menu is one of the most extensive ones I have seen. Ordered a Bloody Mary – it had nice accoutrements but lacked flavor. The coffee was delicious.

I ordered the Meatlover Apple Pancake, Grand Princess got a S’mores Pancake and daughter got shrimp and grits.

For “pancakes” what we got was a plate cake!! It was one HUGE plate sized pancake filled with all the goodness. Daughters shrimp and grits were creamy and well seasoned.

Definitely a good breakfast spot!!

Heard good things about this place and their stuffed pancakes. Nice quaint place. Many pancake options and also healthy options like paleo, keto, and gluten-free . You can also order other items, and everything honestly sounds delicious. Ordered chicken and pancakes, which my daughter said was fire, home fries, and blueberry pancakes. My pancake came out almost as big as the plate. Everything was so delicious I decided to go give props to the chefs. The waitress I had was very on top of everything. She was hard working and was pleasant. This was a redo place n five stars to me.

We came here for Father’s Day after I heard they had gluten free and egg free options. My husband has a gluten allergy and my son has an egg allergy, which can make eating out challenging and sometimes more stressful than it is worth. However, that was not the case at The Tea Kettle our server was amazing and double checked everything. The tomato soup and grilled cheese were as good as they looked.

Food at this place is always great and there are awesome paleo and gluten free offerings! I recognize the importance of an online review so don’t want to dock too many stars but the service has historically been more “island time” than “type-A new englanders” and today it was the remarkably bad. It seemed like there were 2 people working there who had any sense of urgency and what was going on (neither of whom served us) but the hostess who sat us and our server could not have been more complacent and slow. I had to ask for water about 3 times initially and then when I wanted a refill I had to remind her twice. It literally looked as if she was as moving through molasses. Maybe she wasn’t feeling well and was on Sudafed or something, bc I can’t understand what else would make a human move and react so slowly and apathetically forgetfully. I sincerely hope she’s ok and we did not tip poorly, but it should be noted to the restaurant and the public that, after frequenting this place for over 4 year now, service has always left something to be desired.

Amazing Pancakes and Cozy Vibe!
Tea Kettle is such a gem! The pancakes were absolutely incredible — fluffy, buttery, and perfectly golden. You can tell they’re made with care and high-quality ingredients. The portions were generous, and the service was warm and friendly. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or brunch — highly recommend the pancakes! ☕️

Shout out to my server Dorothy. (My mom’s name was Dorothy n she loved breakfast) Chix n waffles hit the spot. Only thing was the home fries needed some seasoning n the grits weren’t my style. But decent. Ty. I’ll be back

We stayed right across the street and I’m so glad we stopped at the Tea Kettle! The staff is super friendly. We appreciated Julia taking the time to chat with us. I wanted the pancakes based on other reviews and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! My husband had the Papa Smurf and I had the Strawberry Cheesecake. They were so delicious we didn’t even need syrup. All the pancakes are topped with their homemade whipped cream. A great experience!

It’s a gamble for the price. The first time my family came here we were very pleased with the food, I got a pancake and an eggs Benedict, my partner enjoyed the chicken fried steak. We took half the pancake home it was so big. We were excited to come back, but this time I was quite shocked when my plate arrived. I ordered their nacho Benedict with waffle fries. I was very confused when I cut into my poached eggs because it was so over cooked it was practically hard boiled. I order eggs Benedict everywhere I go and I have for my whole life, it’s my favorite food, and I have never had a poached egg be that over cooked, not one other time. I also did not taste any hollandaise sauce anywhere. I was pretty upset because I’m pregnant and I was really hungry, but for the first time in my life I decided to ask for a remake. The waitress was very understanding. I got the regular eggs Benedict the second time, and it was fine, they actually gave me a whole ramekin of hollandaise sauce to make sure I got enough, but I am just not blown away. My partner even commented that the hollandaise was very thin and it was not flavorful, and the home fries were good texture wise but not very flavorful either, I don’t believe they were salted. I am disappointed because we had such a good meal the first time we came. Unfortunately I just think that their menu is too expensive to take a gamble on. I will say my partner enjoyed his chicken breakfast sandwich.
