Nice, local spot with comfy seating and classic food. My favorites were the sesame chicken sticks and the jalapeño sauce – super good shareable and could have just ordered it as a main.

We were headed to our car club meeting at the VFW, only to find the place wall-to-wall packed with bingo night. Audible groans. Fortunately, my wife spotted The Tavern Grill just down the road—and that detour turned out to be the highlight of the evening.
Atmosphere:
Comfortable, polished, and welcoming without trying too hard. Exactly what you want when Plan A falls apart. We were seated quickly and could actually relax and enjoy a meal instead of hovering with plates in our hands.
What we ordered:
Chicken Saltimbocca (my wife):
An Italian classic done right—and let’s be honest, when prosciutto (Italian bacon) shows up to the party, it’s already leaning in your favor. The chicken was tender, the prosciutto rich and savory, the cheese indulgent, and the asparagus a solid supporting act.
But the real star? That sauce. Earthy, creamy, deeply flavorful—one of those sauces that makes you pause mid-bite and recalibrate your expectations. Different, bold, and absolutely delicious.
Bang Bang Shrimp Bowl (me):
I’m already a sucker for bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, so turning it into a full rice bowl is dangerous—in the best way. Light, flavorful shrimp with just the right punch of heat, layered over rice with fresh-cut vegetables. Balanced, satisfying, and packed with flavor without being heavy.
This dish hit the spot. It’s hard for me to hand out five stars casually, but this bowl came real close.
The finish:
Well fed and genuinely happy, we ducked out and strolled back to the car club meeting with a little extra bounce in our step. Sometimes the best nights are the ones that start with a curveball.
Bottom line:
What began as a backup plan turned into a standout meal. Solid execution, thoughtful flavors, and dishes that don’t play it safe. If you’re in Arden Hills and need a reliable win—The Tavern Grill delivers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

Really enjoy this restaurant! I’ve been here twice and both times the food, service, and atmosphere have been excellent. I had the build-your-own burger on a pretzel bun and a cosmo from the bar, both were fabulous. The server, Austin, was attentive and friendly, and manager Jen even stopped by to check in, which was a nice touch. I also met a few other staff members and everyone was welcoming and helpful. I sat inside at a comfortable booth, but the patio also looks like a great option. Highly recommend!

We ordered stuffed mushrooms, walleye, and a side salad. The mushrooms were made with more mayo than crab. I would not be surprised if the rice was made the day before- it was hard, chunky, and tasteless. The server and staff were nice. I would be happy to never eat here again

We found this place on Google Maps. Since we are the adventurous types, we gave it a try; again and again, of course, since the food is amazing. Staff is knowledgeable on the menu and keen to point out the crowd favorites.
Our favorites can be found in build your oun pizza, the apps, and of course, the chocolate cake with wiskey butter.
I would definitely recommend this place for a more casual dining experience.

Decided to drive from Ramsey to Arden Hills to check The Tavern and it did not disappoint. Everything was so yummy. We ordered the pretzel appetizer which was $4 off during Happy Hour and was delicious. My fiancé and daughter ordered the chicken wraps which they loved and I ordered the Thai salad which was amazing but I was hoping for grilled chicken. It was so good though. We will definitely be back!!

We came here for Father’s Day with a group of 5 [not-so-small] adults, a toddler, and a baby. We had made a reservation well in advance; however, when we got there, the hostess seemed to scramble to find us a table. We were given a booth that is probably meant for a family of 4, despite there being plenty of other bigger tables available, and the uncomfortable seating put a damper on the experience. The server was very pleasant, and the food was decent overall. The seating is what makes this visit no more than 3 stars.
