Awesome food and fast service. I liked the pumpkin humus waaaaay more than I thought I would. The meatloaf just falls apart in your mouth.
The grilled cheese had a nice crunch but the bread was a little hard and the cheese wasn’t stringy. Espresso martini had such a soft, smooth texture. We all enjoyed our chowder and seasonal soup. Coconut curry was also amazing. All pictured here. Overall, highly recommended

What a great experience. The drinks we had were fantastic. Food was good, took a little bit of time for it to come out but it was very busy and during the busy season. The bartender was great, was very helpful with information regarding salem. Love the hotel, so much history. And I hear its haunted.

Had a great time. The menu is large and accommodating both a full meal and snacks. The nachos and fries were delicious and the service was excellent. It’s a great option for one looking for an old school tavern with lots of history.

Special thank you to our waiter Adam started off our weekend in Salem with great service and suggestions. We wanted to eat at the Tavern but it was pretty packed we ended up still be able to sit on the other side near the hotel which served the same menu.

Steak and sweet potatoe mashed was an amazing dish and cleaned our plates.

Only hotel guests can use parking lot.

Drinks were great – they even offer a Sazerac which made me very happy! The food was incredible. We had the steak tips for dinner and they were so flavorful! Truly enjoyed it. And the atmosphere was lovely especially on a few cold winter days!

The Tavern at The Hawthorne was a classic place to have dinner. The haunted hotel is decorated for the spooky season, the servers are great, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, and the food tasted awesome. I got the Seafood Stew, and my gluten-free, vegan wife got the Coconut-Curry Bowl with Tofu. We will return.

Stopped here during a trip to Salem the weekend after Halloween. There was surprisingly seats at the bar and we all grabs drinks and some appetizers before heading over the the Witch Museum. We all enjoyed our drinks and food. The Onion Rings are actually some of the best I’ve ever had. Very nice staff as well!

– my low rating is due to how horrible I was treated while trying to come here to eat.

– my pasta was real good, the flavor, freshness, presentation, everything.

– place was clean and organized. Everything was extremely nice.

– prices are a bit high but the food was really good but you pay more just cause the name of the place in my opinion.

– staff were horrible. First I was told that I can only eat here if I was staying at the hotel which is not true but I was staying there and told the lady I was. Secondly she told me it would be about an hour or more wait but then told the folks behind me 25-30mins. Super rude lady working the front and very condescending, she acted like she just didn’t want to have me eat here. It’s a shame that it’s 2025 and humans still treat others this way for looking different.

– service was not that great and pretty slow but to be honest I think it’s just they didn’t like me so they didn’t care.

– the food was good but I still don’t recommend this location as the staff made everything horrible for me.

The best meal in Salem we had!

We came back here after we stumbled upon the neat old and historic restaurant inside The Hawthorne hotel. We figured it looked nice let’s try it out.

Everything we had was perfection! I’ve been touring all the pretzels every restaurant I go to this year and they had some of the best. The Chicken marsala was so flavorful and tender. The asparagus could not have been better prepared.

They have an impressive cooking team because it was all wonderful! Definitely a place we’ll revisit!
