Food was wonderful! Waitress was lovely, the only down fall was my husband got food poisoning from a well cooked steak.. meaning the meat was spoiled!! He was sick from both ends for 10+ hours straight; our vacation was ruined by this, had to go to urgent care due to severe dehydration. He was miserable for 24 hours+ even after urgent care. I couldn’t believe this happened, I could maybe believe from too much raw fish but from steak? So disappointed from our experience. Last half of our honeymoon was ruined due to spoiled meat.

During my recent visit to The Tasting Room in Koloa, Kauai, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional dining experience. The charcuterie board was a standout, featuring a delightful selection of specialty cured meats and cheeses, including local options that showcased the island’s flavors. The portions were generous, making it an ideal starter to share.

The service was notably prompt and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. Given the restaurant’s popularity, I recommend making reservations in advance to ensure a seamless dining experience.

For dessert, the apple cobbler cheesecake was a highlight, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. Additionally, exploring their wine flights is a must, providing an excellent opportunity to sample a variety of selections from their extensive wine list.

Overall, The Tasting Room offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a top choice for both locals and visitors seeking a memorable dining experience in Kauai.

Daughter and SIL took us to this place for dinner while vacationing in Kauai and we had a fabulous evening of wine, food, and fellowship.

This is only the 3rd restaurant in 46 years that I’ve visited that had good French onion soup. I started my meal with the soup and a sampling of 3 reds… was not disappointed.

Food was great; service was great; wonderful ambiance. Zero complaints. 10/10 would go again.

First time having dinner here after a round at golf at Poipu Bay GC. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. We walked in with no reservations but they were very friendly and accommodated us. First up was the Caesar salad, omg!!! I’ve never had a Caesar salad with butter lettuce that just melted in your mouth. Then we had the Ribeye cooked to perfection and it came with a side of roasted vegetables. Dessert was the Lava cake to end our evening. From the constant filling our water glass to checking on how everything was. In our eyes, we can compare this restaurant to Ruth’s Chris. We will definitely be back, heard the French Onion soup is the bomb .

This is my favorite go to on Kauai. I get extremely excited about dinner at this fine place. Always start with their featured wine flight of the night–great way to experience wines not on your radar. I usually have their fish and pair it with the Jean Marc Brocard Chablis. My husband and I never skip out on the warm toffee for desert. Our favorite waitperson, Melia, has a bubbly personality and wine knowledge always making our dining experience exceptional.

We had such an incredible dinner last night celebrating our friends birthday. It was everything you’d want in a small plates but amazingly delicious bites with tons of flavor type of place. I would say pretty much everything we got was exceptional. The top favorites were the hamachi crudo, french onion soup, artichoke dip (this had big chunks of artichoke (chef’s kiss)), steak, lamb, and short rib special. The apple cobbler cheesecake desert was mind blowing. The lava cake was also good but the other was insane. Service was 10/10 as well

Don’t believe the sub par reviews. This restaurant is over the top excellent. We ate here 4 times in our 9 day stay in Kauai. The quality of food, service and atmosphere is spot on for what you pay. The owners are the operators and involved into taking care of he customers. Great drinks too. For sure, get the French onion soup. Best we have ever had. Fish options are great too and wine selection is awesome. Thank you Megan for being a great host and your drinks will never be forgotten!

Overall was a 4. Which was negatively affected by the Service (2) and Atmosphere (3).

Slow down!! Not just our server. We saw most of the service people racing around to some unknown finish line. For us, the frantic dashing affected the atmosphere. This is not a fast food restaurant.

Our server provided no advice or proactive help with our menu selections. She was in such a hurry, she barely came to a complete stop. Before dashing away as she was still talking. We think. The results: she got one of our orders wrong. And we had a disproportionate amount of salad from our choices.

We would have welcomed just some small insights and advice to better understand, explore and enjoy. Too late…the unknown race was on!

Pocket friendly fine dine experience with limited but delicious menu. Everything was cooked to perfection. A must visit place if you are in and around Koloa. The french onion soup was definitely the best on the island as described by our server.

Fun little place with fresh pillows on the bench seats. Live music from 6 – 8 Tue, Thu and Sat. The Olive Tapenade could have passed for alternative meat, and the Smoked Beet Salad was refreshingly mild (for a beet dish)‼️ The GK Pineapple/Chili Pepper house soda was spicier that I guessed, but the homemade taste was so compelling we finished it anyway! A fun place, and worth the stop!

The portions I ordered were not huge portions. I’m starving after an active day on a light lunch, so I will go next door to La Spezia and finish the evening with additional vegan options.

Update: in comparison, The Tasting Room really stood out with it’s thoughtful interior and complex tastes. Next door we found those coveted calories in very adequate and well-rounded meals, but we are SO glad to have spent the extra time and money at The Tasting Room this evening! Without their dishes, ambiance and smiles, our evening would have been just fine, but also without much of the delightful charm which earns The Tasting Room 5 stars today.
