The Taste of Sebewaing is the third of three Taste restaurants. We are a family owned restaurant that opened our first establishment ( The Taste of Bay City) in the summer of 2016. We serve Burgers, wings Philly steak subs and much more! Stop in and try one of are many flavors of margaritas.

Having heard about the new restaurant in town, I had to check it out. We stopped here for lunch and parked behind the mini-mart next door: parking here is a bit scuffed. In a building formerly known as ‘the sugar shack’, a large main room with a bar takes up most of the space. There is a pool table and several tables scattered around (do not sit at a table with hard plastic chairs, there is no way to sit in them comfortably!). The service was good and we soon gobbled down our complementary chips & salsa. The chips were handmade and decent: the salsa was also very good (there are a variety of hot sauces to add to the salsa/food). We ordered the special, $2 enchiladas — ground beef, chicken and onion/cheese. I was pleasantly surprised with their quality. I added rice/beans(also good!) to my meal ($4 each!!). I won’t do that again — $4 for them combined would have been fair. Overall, I’m glad Mexican is now an option in Sebewaing and I’ll be back for more specials in the future.

We were there with a group of 6. Tara was fantastic. She was personable, fast and accurate. The food was so good. We tried the cactus chili and loved it. Will definately be back. I tried the special frozen drink that tasted like spiced apple. DELISH!

First off, the food is good!! The service was great!! The draft beer could be colder. My only real complaint is, when we ordered chips and guacamole they didn’t bring out small plates so you could put some on the plate instead of always digging in the basket of chips and scooping guac every time. The plates they put the beans and rice on would be perfect.

Went for lunch today and had the best Philly Cheese steak I’ve ever had. The two guys working were awesome. Very friendly and went above and beyond while trying to get the Detroit Tigers game on. My friend had the bacon cheeseburger and said it was very tasty. Had lots of bacon and a cheese sauce on it. All in all it was a great meal and service. I’ll definitely be going back.

Me and my partner have been here 3 times since they have opened. Once when they first opened, again when they first switched menus, and again tonight. Our first experience left some things to be desired, more staff and more training. Our second visit found us in the same boat, a lack of staff and employees in training. We understand that not every day can be a good day so we waited patiently for our food and weren’t disappointed either time. Our visit tonight they really seemed to be hitting their stride. Service was fast, friendly, and the staff were super helpful with anything we needed. The two younger gentlemen (Logan was our server, I’ve forgotten the other gentlemens name unfortunately) made sure our drinks were never empty and that everything tasted good and it did! From our appetizer to our burgers and fries, it was all hot, fresh, and delicious! Can’t wait to return in the near future!

First off let me explain my 3 star review, we lived in Texas for many years and know Tex/Mex food well..Taste of Sebewaing is a Bar with good bar food. It was nice to have a different take on the chips and salsa but to crunchy for the older folks. The food arrived with more than generous amounts of rice and beans to the point of having it fall off the plate while trying to cut the burrito which was full of beef. So those with dexterity issues will need help so as not to loose food onto the table. The rice was chain restaurant Mexican rice and the beans were better, thick and textured! We ordered the 6.00 guacamole to share for the table, and well I don’t know what that was, it’s watery and had an acidic taste which was not lime juice. If you’re looking for some quick food to eat check them out! If your looking for a cool down on a ride check them out!

My husband and I go here regularly, food is always awesome!! First time we went we had a nice server, knew what she was doing and very kind. Last couple times.. it was kinda just an awkward experience. Not very personable and doesn’t seem to have served for long if not ever before. I’m a server so I know it can take time to learn!! But, doesn’t seem like they want to be there at all, and doesn’t care to try at all other than the bare minimum, most of the time we go in no one is there with us, so I can’t presume the server is just too busy…we go at odd times due to our schedule. but like i said previously, the food is always great. Just need work in the service department.

I have visited this establishment 2 times now. The first time this place was really busy since it is a new food spot to this town. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks ordered. Food took about that much to reach our table. The waitress as aware of our experience and treated us to free queso and chips. All the food and drinks were great.
Today being the second time visiting there were 2 other tables occupied, already getting a good feeling that it won’t take 2+ hours to complete our dining experience. Everything started well, received our beverages and chips n salsa. Order took place and withing 10 minutes recieved our dinner. However the food was just a little bit warmer than cold. They took 2 of the 4 entrees back and warmed them up a little. Food came back a little steamy on the edges but still basically cold in the middle. Just decided to take food home to warm up. After that our waitress must have been embarrassed or scared and our service went from decent to non existent. No discount on food, just apologies that seemed very empty. Very sad because the food was somewhat decent.

Very poor service. Never heard of a Patty Melt without cheese and when questioning it the waitress agreed with me until the cook pointed out on the menu there is no cheese. NEVER HEARD OF A PATTY MELT WITH NO CHEESE. Maybe they need to research how to make a sandwich. The hamburgers looked like they would be good until you bit into them and they were dry and had a burnt taste to them. Then to top it off I commented on their Facebook page just to be blocked.

I was very disappointed with my experience. The atmosphere was not that of a restaurant. It felt more like a bar and nightclub. I asked for a basket of chips 5 times and never received them. The service was awful. I waited a whole hour for food that was sub par. While we waited all the staff stood in a corner gossiping. Then when our food arrived it was wrong. The “stand in” manager then yelled at the cook in front us. She then checked the ticket and our waitress put the order in wrong. While they cleaned a couple of tables they griped about their job and other stuff. Also when I asked for a homemade margarita they said it was but I watched them pour the pre mix from a bottle. If you own a Mexican restaurant you should know what a homemade margarita is. I was very disappointed.
