WOW!!!! My husband and I dined there for our anniversary and it was perfect from the beginning to end. I didn’t want it to end! From the very sweet valet gentleman to the host, our amazing server Hudson. The drinks were delicious, the food melted in my mouth. I highly recommend this place!! The atmosphere was so wonderful to celebrate this special day with my husband. Thank you all

Historic explorable building. Excellent entrees. Ordered the popular crab cakes, small but delicious portion. Fennel crusted halibut divine. Special was the surf & turf, absolutely fresh & tasty. Yum blueberry pie. Almond cake was a tad too much almond but overall enjoyable afternoon. Service is simply terrific. A definite must try in Bangor. Support local.

On business in Bangor. Couldn’t stay at my usual hotel because of influx of tourists and music lovers so I also branched out for dinner. Lovely place! Booked reservation for 1 on Open Table in the bar. Seated immediately when I arrived!

Jillyan (sp?) was the bartender and my delightful waitress. Quiet and relaxing, exposed brick and great ambiance. Online reviews rave about the scallops so I had to try them – THE most amazing scallops atop a corn/leek/pork belly risotto. I stopped early so I could have the berry cobbler (and take home my entree). Cobbler wasn’t too sweet and it’s that time of year – little blueberries from Maine!! Tasty experience. My only complaint is the bar stool; it had a back but it was still uncomfortable.

I went for my birthday for the first time since moving to the area. I ordered an old-fashioned and it showed up on the rocks glass half full! That should be addressed, we’re adults if you pay $15 for a drink you would like your glass full lol. It won’t stop me from going back, but I won’t pay for an overpriced drink. Throw a little extra ice and a little club soda on that old-fashioned to fill up the glass please. The presentation was very stingy, but the price isn’t stingy so what’s the point just to rip off the consumer? The steak was the best that I’ve had in the area so far. That’s why I’m giving it a 3 star as far as the cocktails I’m not seeing it, a half filled old-fashioned, and my friend ordered wine and there was barely an eighth of a glass. We just kind of looked at each other, disappointed. Such a simple thing can ruin an evening out. Perhaps buying the bottle, might be cheaper? I don’t understand why Restaurants try to price Gouge the customer. The decor Is nice and welcoming Just stingy on the cocktails.

I can’t say enough about my experience with the Tarratine. My best friend was proposed to on the rooftop and then four of us celebrated at a cozy table by the fireplace. The staff knew ahead of time and they assisted us superbly. They took care of our every need. Dinner and drinks were absolutely excellent. The Tarratine made it a very special evening and we can’t thank them enough.

We were given a gift card to The Tarratine in Bangor for our wedding & we FINALLY used it tonight, & what a treat it was! We can’t say enough good things about our experience! The building is absolutely gorgeous, all of the staff were lovely, the service was excellent, & the food & cocktails were delicious. We will certainly be back!

A true and delightful surprise nestled within the bricks of downtown Bangor. The duck was beautifully prepared—perfectly cooked, richly flavored, and thoughtfully presented. The charcuterie board was equally refined, carefully curated with excellent balance and attention to detail.
The atmosphere is warm and understated, creating an experience that feels both intimate and intentional. Service was polished, attentive, and unhurried, allowing the meal to unfold naturally.
Tarratine offers an elevated dining experience that feels special without being overstated—an unexpected gem that quietly exceeds expectations.

They had a surf n turf special the other day. Insanely good. Pricey so we only go for our anniversary, but it always feels like a special occasion.

We love dining at the Tarratine! We had the duck and the scallops with mushroom risotto…both were excellent. Followed up with dessert: raspberry crème brûlée and flourless chocolate torte. Yum! Excellent service!

Food:
4.5/5, Scallops: Perfectly seared, tender and juicy, could have used a bit more spice or flavor, but overall really nice. Micro greens were good and the tomatoes were very flavorful. Delicious

5/5, Bread: Toasted perfectly, not too hard, but a little crisp and warm. Butter was warm too, perfect for spreading. Bread had a nice flavor

5/5, Pork: Love the blend of potato and squash. Pork is pretty good, especially with the coating. I really enjoyed the bacon jam too., Asparagus is cooked perfectly and not too stringy, I like the little crisp to them, great job. I’ll definitely get it again next time I’m there.

2/5, Strawberry shortcake: I knew I was taking a chance getting a biscuit version of a strawberry shortcake, but I really wasn’t a fan of it. Overall, I felt it was all rather lacking in flavor. Biscuits were good, but would have enjoyed them covered in sausage gravy instead, and they were a tad dry it seemed. Strawberries and whipped cream were bland. It would be great if I saw biscuits and sausage gravy on their brunch menu one day!

Service:
5/5, Staff were super friendly and attentive and gave great suggestions.

Atmosphere:
5/5, Did the self tour, would be absolutely amazing place for a “murder mystery dinner…”. Lovely building. Quiet dining too. I hate loud restaurants, but it wasn’t loud at all, perfect!

7/7/2023: I really love the view up on the roof, but the tables/chairs are very low and the railing is very high and block the view. Perhaps adding high top tables to the corner with the good views would be good. 🙂
