Tried out a new dish today, the chicken Pasanda. The chicken pieces themselves were somewhat hard and smelled like they was old/stale. But the gravy is very creamy and savory with the green peppers add a nice touch. Samosas and gulab jamun were great! Would probably try something more fresh if I were to revisit.

Take out rice portions have decreased in size. Couldn’t even finish all the curry with how little rice they give now.
Also this is the second time that they forgot to give me my mango lassi with my takeout order.
Also the takeout samosa burned through the styrofoam cover and we threw away because of the microplastics
Lamb korma tasted good though

Me and my partner had the pleasure of dining in on Christmas Eve. Taj of India is my favorite Indian Restaurant in this area because of the wide variety of menu items, diet accommodations and the best Indian food I’ve ever had at very reasonable price.

However, I am leaving a review solely because of the outstanding service server Diane gave us. Diane is clearly a very experienced, seasoned server when it comes to guest experience in this industry. Her charisma, kind hearted and witty humor, attentiveness and attention to detail to ensure we were taken care of was impeccable and make my night. I found the small gesture of quickly remembering our names and addressing us by our names the entire time to be such a welcoming and thoughtful thing to do that I’ve never experienced anywhere else. She made the dine in experience feel like a family gathering during the holidays. I told my boyfriend to tip well and we showered with compliments. I just wanted to give her recognition formally here!

Thank you Diane and to the entire staff that day. I will continue to recommend Taj of India to others. The owner was very kind and friendly as well!

My friends and I visited your restaurant last night, excited to enjoy some quality Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, our entire experience was completely overshadowed by the utterly appalling behavior of one staff member—a white American woman who appeared to be serving or managing the front of house.
From the moment we interacted with her, her attitude was dismissive and aggressively rude. We witnessed her treating multiple patrons poorly, but the situation escalated beyond poor service into something far more serious. This employee was openly making inappropriate comments about customers’ personal appearance and, most disturbingly, passing racial comments.
To experience such blatant disrespect and racism—especially while dining at an Indian restaurant—is shocking and unacceptable. This staff member’s actions created a hostile and deeply uncomfortable environment. Customer service was not merely poor; it was nonexistent, warranting a flat 0/5 stars.

As a fellow business owner, I feel compelled to raise this issue directly with the management. Employees are the public face of your brand, and allowing a staff member to treat paying customers with such disrespect and, worse, outright racial prejudice, is a recipe for disaster. The long-term damage to your reputation and, crucially, your repeat business value, will be immense.
I can confirm that neither I nor my friends will ever be visiting your establishment again. I strongly urge the owner to review the staff they are entrusting their business to before this employee drives away every potential repeat customer.
Hope this kindly helps the owner to get staff on board to take care of their customers politely.

Ordered to go, they left my yogurt sauce out which ruined the meal for me.

I came for the buffet around noon and all of the food was luke warm to just plain cold. They opened at 1130 I didn’t understand why it looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The waiter was extremely nice though so huge plus there. Really good mango lassi and the masala wouldve been better if it was warmer. Not sure if I’ll go back.

The curries are great, presentation is nice. Decor is cute. In sitting is very loud and echoey. Don’t recommend anyone extrasensory to crowds or sound to dine in on peak a evening. Seating is squished even though they have like 2 dining areas they could maximize both better.

I’m mainly leaving this because we got some lamn samosas, and something about them or dipping sauces DESTROYED my tooth enamel, and I am not a sensitive teeth person. I eat ice cream, chew ice cubes, NO problem.

I have been using special toothpaste for this issue and still struggling with high or low temperature foods. Not my front teeth,my MOLARS! Those guys are much more robust usually given their thickness. A warning to anyone else who might consider trying it.
I’m not sure which dipping sauce it was, but it’s like that stuff was packed with corrosive citric or ascorbic acid or something. I am an avid Indian food lover and have enjoyed it my whole life growing up in the UK. This is unheard of in my experience. Watch out!

A very good Indian food in the CSRA. The owners of this place also own my favorite restaurant, curry hut on Washington rd. The food is authentic, and it’s like eating at your Indian grandmothers place. The BEST and ONLY time to come here is during the buffet hours. While they have a large variety of foods during dinner hours, the lunch buffet is the best variety of food for the best price (usually around 11 bucks or so per person). This allows you to try multiple new things without any qualms about the food. They have other higher quality things like lamb during dinner hours, but they charge per item and it’s overall more money. Stick to the buffets and you won’t have a bad meal, ever. There is much more space here than the curry hut location but the menus are similar and also totally recommended.

If you want a little taste of India, then Taj of India is where you want to go. Maria and her husband are so friendly. The servers are always nice and friendly. The food is delicious. You can get the food as mild or as spicy as you like. The portions are very filling. They even have a lunch buffet. Give them a try. If your new to indian food try the chicken masala. You can’t go wrong with a chicken dish.
