My friend and I got here at a perfect time because the line became out the door shortly after we arrived! We sat at the bar waiting for our food, mouth watering because we could see how everything was being made from scratch. I got the Baja fish taco, the grilled shrimp taco, and the carne asada taco. When I sat down, I spotted the Al pastor meat on the spit, and I asked a worker there if that was the Al pastor, and she said yes. I told her “wow that looks really good” and she got me a free Al pastor taco! That was seriously the nicest thing and totally above and beyond! We talked for a little while and she ended up being the general manager there, and I watched her and the others work and they were all crushing it. All of the tacos I got were incredible and the sauces were amazing. My friend got the carne asada burrito, and the char on the carne asada meat was so freaking good. I’ll definitely come back here! Everything was fresh and the service was amazing!

I stopped by The Taco Stand in San Diego and it was awesome. I got the Carne Asada and Al Pastor tacos, and both were super flavorful and smelled amazing. They have a separate sauce bar so you can load up on salsa and toppings however you want, which I loved. I also grabbed some churros, and they literally fry them right in front of you. They were super crispy, warm, and crazy good. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby!

not that this place needs anymore reviews but it has the best fish and shrimp tacos! their selection of salsas is great and their tortillas are so soft. the line is almost always down the block so if you plan on going be prepared for that!

This might just be the place to experience truly authentic tacos. Every topping is available in unlimited portions, and each one tastes incredibly fresh, adding layers of flavour to every bite. The tacos I ordered were absolutely mouth-watering; perfectly prepared, vibrant, and bursting with freshness.
I would highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone who loves genuine Mexican flavours. Even the churros stood out; they were exceptionally soft, warm, and beautifully made.
One thing to keep in mind: each order comes with one taco. But trust me, the quality, taste, and freshness make every single one worth every penny.

There’s way too much competition in San Diego to be standing in line for 40 minutes and waiting another 20 minutes for the food only to just barely get a table. However, this La Jolla and it’s my first time trying this place. It’s a very very solid spot for tacos especially for being a small chain, perfect no notes minus the service speed. The Baja fish tacos were an absolute stand out. The best taco here and might be the best fish taco I’ve had. The meats were good too but something about that Baja fish taco I will think about for a long time.

Heard good things and decided to check it out- it was great! I got the burrito Al pastor, which is a filling burrito! We also got an order of churros which were perfect and a great price. Others got burrito carne asada, and fish taco and everyone said they were great. Make sure to get sauces while you wait for your food, I loved the salsa cilantro sauce and pickled onions.

Believe the reviews. This place checks every box for a place called “The Taco Stand.” It was so good, I was genuinely surprised to find out there are multiple locations. The line out the door let us know it’s a favorite of the locals, and the line to order moved a quick pace. It took a minute to get our food, but watching from our seat at the prep counter helped us appreciate the time and attention they were giving to each order. Our chips and guacamole were perfectly fresh, the Baja and El pastor Tacos were delicious!!! I topped mine with a mix of their chile verde and cilantro creme salsas and found myself in taco heaven. The place was hopping on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm. So good. Also ordered the corn on the cob, and while the corn was slightly over cooked, the toppings with the tajin were great. We’ll be back whenever we are in town.

Vibe: 6.5/10 – cool vibe, but note there is limited seating and seemingly no bathroom
Service: 8/10
Value: 8/10 – burritos are the best value items here!! Burritos range from ~$10-12, while tacos are ~$4-6 each.
Pescado taco: 7.75/10
Pescado burrito: 9/10 – very filling, yet lighter than the al pastor burrito
Al pastor burrito: 9/10
Overall: 8.04/10 (4.02/5)
[To clarify our review system:
10 = we’ll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!)
9 = extraordinary
8 = great
7 = above average
6 = average
Anything below 6 is being critical]

Stellar service. Scrumptious tacos. The beef taco blew my mind, high quality meat and perfectly seasoned with a generous scoop of fresh guacamole. The house made salsas here are incredible as well.

We waited an hour and a half just to place an order at this location, and another 30 minutes for the food to be ready. The tacos are indeed delicious, but given its proximity to La Jolla, the wait can stretch far beyond what most diners might expect. Among the several tacos we tried, the carne asada stood out for its aromatic grill flavor and well-developed seasoning.
Operationally, the strain of high demand is hard to miss. Ingredient portions varied noticeably from taco to taco, and the salsa station had slipped into disarray by the time we reached it. The canned margaritas, overly sweet and priced well above their value, are an easy skip. Despite the food’s strengths, the management challenges make this an experience best approached with patience—and perhaps a backup plan.
