Absolutely loved The Taco Shop and Bar in Ashburn. Everything we had was insanely fresh and packed with flavor. The tortillas are made in-house, and you can really tell — same with the sauces. The salsa and queso were both on point, and the chips didn’t last long.
We ordered the tacos and basically went all in: asada, Ensenada fish, birria, Baja shrimp, chancho, pulpo — every single one hit. Bold flavors, perfectly cooked proteins, and nothing felt heavy or overdone. You can tell there’s a lot of care put into the food.
Service was just as great as the food. Christian, our server, paid attention to every single detail, was incredibly kind, and genuinely enjoyable to talk to — the kind of service that makes the whole experience better. We also had the chance to meet the owner, and you can clearly see his love and passion for making great food. Super nice guy, and it really shows in what they’re putting out.
We also had the chips and salsa, taquitos, and shrimp and chicken fajitas (not pictured because they didn’t last long enough ). If you’re looking for fresh, flavorful tacos made the right way, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be back. They also have salsa night every other Friday so definitely checking that out. Family owned!

Don’t let the name fool you — this place is anything but boring and generic (and it’s more than tacos). So many Mexican places out here carry the hint of Old El Paso refried beans out of a can and mild Ortega salsa — not here! The flavors are vivid, bold, and delicious. In our four or five trips here, the service has been great, the staff has been friendly, and the food — from the chips and homemade salsa to the range of tacos to the entrees to the spicy margaritas — has been among the best we’ve come across. A new spot in Ashburn we will be adding to our list of go to places for good food, drinks, and service. We stopped by for happy hour and it was a great way for us to try drinks and specials. Mojito and Margaritas were so good and the bartender Ivan was very quick with the drinks and taking our food order. The menu has something for everyone. Chips, Salsa and guacamole were so good and a great start. We ordered Steak quesadilla, Nachos, and tried a few different tacos – Baja Shrimp, Chorizo, Chancho (Porkbelly), Pulpo (Charred octopus). The last two are a must try – AMAZING! The owner was so nice when he stopped by to check in on our visit. FYI – This is a great spot to watch a game!

Server said they’ve only been open a month or so. Tucked away in a small, nondescript strip mall, I never would’ve found this without a google maps search for Mexican restaurants.
Super friendly and prompt service, food is fresh and very tasty, and the margaritas (w/Tajin instead of salt on the rim) are nice and strong.
Free chips and salsa were outstanding. Chips were warm yet crunchy, and the red and green salsas were great albeit a tad salty. Ordered the guacamole and it was fresh, tasty with a nice hint of lime. Also got chicken fajitas and vegan asada fajitas. They have several vegetarian/vegan options on the menu as well. Fajitas came on sizzling platters with nicely caramelized onions, with Spanish rice, black beans, a side of sour cream, shredded lettuce, guacamole, and seasoned diced tomatoes. Portion sizes are great, and the chicken was properly charred yet still moist. They said most of their items are homemade, and I found their homemade red hot sauce delicious with just the right amount of heat ️.
The interior of the restaurant is a shade on the dark side, and they have plenty of TVs scattered about with various sports ⚽️ playing in the background.
We took some leftovers home, and the food was just as good reheated the next day.

This was the second time that we went to The Taco Shop & Bar in Ashburn. Much like the first one, this visit too was memorable for all the right reasons. We were a fairly big group ( 4 adults + 3 kids), and ordered a slew of tacos and other items. For drinks, we opted for a Mexican IPA on tap as well as a marg pitcher – oh boy, the freshly squeezed jalapeno juice was a nice surprise! Coming to the food, the Vegano was a clear winner, with the Birria coming in a close second. One of us opted for the special of the night – a delicately prepared Branzino set on a tamale and fresh garnish with avocado on top. This was one of the tastiest dishes that I have tried, and at a very reasonable price point. We also obtained two desserts – a tres leches and a chocolate flan cake. Both of these were sumptuous and despite my initial skepticism of having any room for dessert, were pretty much quickly devoured!
Our group was a little too eager to try everything asap so the only pictures I managed to click were of our dessert – I will do better next time!
Overall, I can’t wait to go back again and try more drinks and dishes at this spot!

If you’re looking for the real deal, this is it. I recently visited and was blown away by the authentic Tex-Mex style tacos. You can tell immediately that quality is the priority here—everything from the meats to the salsas tasted incredibly freshly made.
The Highlights:
– The Tortillas: Do yourself a favor and make sure to get the homemade corn tortillas. They are soft, sturdy, and have that perfect toasted corn aroma that elevates the whole meal.
– The Salsas: Every salsa we tried tasted like it was made just minutes before hitting the table. Bright, vibrant, and packed with flavor.
– The Service: To top it off, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.

For years, we’ve said that you can’t find many decent, authentic Mexican restaurants in Ashburn. However, that can’t be said anymore. This place is AWESOME. The food was incredible, and the margaritas packed a serious punch. My only grievance is that anything after the first round of chips and salsa cost extra. That being said, the chips were great, and $2.50 is a modest price to pay for great chips and salsa. As well, while I was not wowed by the regular prices (they are very middle of the road for Loudoun), the quality and quantity of food you can get for happy hour is incredibly affordable. We got several appetizers, smalls bites and quesadillas for our meal, and they were amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and were genuinely thrilled by our positive experience. This was likely the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever had experienced, and I can’t wait to go back again.

Drove past this place for months and finally decided to try it. Arrived around 8:15 PM on 1/3/26, and was immediately greeted by a hostess. Sat at the bar and was instantly greeted by a kind and knowledgeable server who gave me two menus and a drink recommendation. She recommended a Mexican beer that was absolutely amazing (crisp, easy to drink, refreshing). After a few minutes, she comes back and asked if I had any questions about the menu. Told her I wanted to do the create your own taco platter. The server recommended the birria, pork belly, and octopus tacos. All three tacos were absolutely amazing; each with their own special flavors, sauces, and fixings. They were easily the best tacos I’ve had in Ashburn. Johnny the manager, as well as all of the servers, were very generous, and checked in on me at all of the right moments. Something that really stuck out was just how kind and thoughtful the service was. Everybody working there seemed genuinely happy to be there. An absolute gem, I will be back again.
