First time I got the alligator Po boy. (RIP it’s now off the menu) But they have a successor as the gator empanada. That thing is spicy so roll up your sleeves and get ready to sweat!
My next visit I got the Maple Chicken Pot pie roll up. It was like a deep fried chicken pot pie burrito!
A very unique rotating menu but I can say you should totally make a reservation before because this place fills up QUICK and I’ll always be filling one of the seats !
We visited on Galentine’s Day (13th) with my lovely because well, Valentine’s weekend of eating out, and I love love love duck. Underwhelming. I know there were nice chunks of duck confit in there, but they were overwhelmed by the odd accompanying mix of blue cheese mustard, vermont cheddar and apple butter on cranberry bread. Delicious ingredients but not necessarily with duck. My starter of the beet & arugula salad was quite good but underdressed with few signs of balsamic glaze. My wife got the french onion soup which was different and good with onion strings/rings on top but not featuring much cheese. She liked the mac & cheese with bacon but again sort of an odd treatment – slabs of great bacon sitting on top of the mac and none actually in the mac? I guess it ‘s your choice of what to do with the bacon.
Overall, a nice place that makes some odd explorations of classic dishes that don’t quite work. Prices reasonable given the quality of the ingredients.
I ordered slaw as a substitute for the fries. It had a brown hue to it and at first I thought it had spoiled. It was saturated in vinegar and some sort of spice and was barely edible.
My girlfriend ordered the clam chowder and the winter salad. The chowder was under seasoned and the salad was overly dressed. The beer was good, however.
This is too bad since this is the only restaurant in Lincoln and they have a captive audience. They really have the opportunity to shine and become a go-to for the local community.
I did not like the coleslaw. I don’t mind spicy, but it was VERY spicy, and didn’t have much flavor beyond the spice. I would have preferred traditional Cole slaw, or even a side of soup.
My husband says it’s the best burger in town! I want to try it but I get the grilled cheese every time.
I highly recommend the chocolate cake. Dense and delicious. The pumpkin bread pudding was a bit sweet for me.
As for apps, the pork belly has a dramatic presentation. It hangs on a hook about 15 inches high. Very cool, very delicious.
Many of the meals have a spicy sauce (habanero pineapple, for example) but they’re great about changing it out for something else.
On this visit we had a number of things, with the highlights being the Poutine serving, the Humus plate, the Winter Salad and the Clam Chowder for starters. The appetizers were just phenomenal, very flavorful, especially the Poutine. Equally savory and delicious were the Salmon and Sirloin steak entree’s. The Salmon was done perfectly and the steak was very juicy and mouth watering. Our server Sarah was absolutely fantastic, and made our meal that much more enjoyable.
We finished with the Crème brûlée and coffee and could not help but contemplate our return visit. If you are in the area and want a great meal with an inviting atmosphere, this place would be a great choice.
