I’ve visited this place several times, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots. My regular order is the falafel sandwich with Turkish coffee, and both are always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The quality and consistency of the food keep me coming back.

The prices are also very reasonable compared to many places in Portland, which makes it an even better value. On top of that, the owner is a genuinely kind and welcoming person who creates a warm atmosphere for customers.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious food, great service, and fair prices

I ordered, then stopped the guy, as I realized I had forgotten my wallet. He said “no worries, just come back and pay me later”

Protect this place. It gives me hope. Will edit when I get my lamb gyro

Edit: gyro is great, and was ready almost before I finished writing this review

Seriously the kindest staff ever. The gentleman at the front was so friendly and warm to my sister and I. At the end of our meal, he even gave my nephews cookies. This was my first time at Sultan Cafe, but it definitely will not be my last. This simple cafe had the best service I’ve experienced at any restaurant in Portland, (and I go to expensive restaurants all the time) and all it took was a warm smile and a family feel from start to finish.

I can’t believe this place been open for little over 20 years and I’ve never tried it . Saw the place while driving so had to stop by . The place is clean and welcoming. Ordered the lamb gyro meal the gyro was so good all the ingredients were fresh and tasty . The Resturant decode reminded me of back home . Loved the Arabic music there were playing . Definitely will be back again and again I would recommend everyone to come in Portland to come and try it . Thank you Mahmoud for this great experience.

One of the few places in town where you can get a properly-pulled espresso shot—not sour (like most of the sugary-coffee drink places), not bitter, just mellow coffee flavor.

The shawarma was advertised as traditional, but honestly, what kind of traditional shawarma comes with lettuce? The lavash stuck to my teeth and felt more like a soggy crepe than proper lavash.

If I don’t focus on authenticity and just treat it as a regular wrap, it still didn’t work. There was way too much raw onion, and the garlic was overpowering, not the pleasant, light garlic note you’d expect, but as if I had eaten an entire bulb. I actually went home and brushed my teeth right after.

Maybe it’s worth trying other dishes here, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one.

Do not recommend.
I am married to a Jordanian and around the Arab culture very often. I’m sorry but I have never had a chicken shawarma wrap with lettuce and tomato before….
Hummus is pretty bland, and they are stingy with Olive Oil (EVOO is an Arab staple).
I had 3-4 bites of my sandwich and sadly had to toss it, it was drowning in mediocre sauce.

I’m sorry to leave such a bad review but I’m away from home on a work trip and miss Arab food, wanted a quick bite before my flight and sadly was let down. I would have been better off at Subway.. this place has no connection to authentic middle eastern cuisine.

-Yellow Chicken Curry (Friday only – pictured)
-Energy Drinks

This place is awesome. Food is always prepared fresh and served hot. Mike, the owner, is a great guy and a lot of fun to talk to.
