Went in because we love sweets. Upon entering the woman working was waiting on customers at one of the two display cases they have. The woman working was pounding her hand very hardly again and again on th top of the display case. With customers standing in front of her. I was confused as to what was transpiring . We walked over to the display case they weren’t at. Looked like they had huge brownies with peanut butter on top of them. We walked over to the other display case. Where the other customers and women working were at. It was full of so many delicious looking pastries. However after getting closer and standing next to the case. I then saw what the women working had been slamming the counter with her hand for. The entire case had fruit flies INSIDE it trapped. I don’t just mean a few. Lots of fruit flies. Like a whole colony.We immediately went back outside. No way were we ordering pastries with flies all around them. I was bummed the pastries all looked so good. The whole place looked pretty disheveled. Not like a typical bakery. All kinds of stuff stacked in the back. Things laying around very unkept looking. I recommend taking a look inside the shop your self first before ordering anything.

Allison filled a very last minute order in off season (strawberry off season that is) with 6 dozen beautiful BIG chocolate covered berries. They were to thank to people in my mom’s life. Enjoyed by all. Mom would have been impressed. ❤️

I ordered a custom cake online and the woman who makes the cakes, Allison, did an absolutely phenomenal job. She made an exact replica of what I was looking for! The cake was insanely good too. And it was HUGE. There were plenty of pieces for everybody! I’m very happy I chose The Sugar Beat for my girlfriend’s birthday cake. Allison is a very skilled baker and I would recommend her any day! Allison from the Sugar Beat is amazing at what she does, and is very professional both in customer service and customer experience, but also as a professional baker/chef. Her supreme cakes are mind blowing, and her creativity is soooooooo incredible. Yes these incredible cakes may be a little expensive, but you are literally paying for what you get. If you want a run of the mill cake with run of the mill ingredients and presentation, then go to the grocery store. If you want the very best cake EVER, with a beautiful presentation and hand made everything from the BEST quality ingredients, then please come to The Sugar Beat . You will not regret it, and if I could give unlimited stars for a review, The Sugar Beat would have it. Thank you again Allison for providing my family with the best cake, and birthday anyone could ask for.

My new go to place! I used to get my tres leches cake at fiesta, but they have now permanently closed. So, I went here. Let me just say they are amazing! I came in and order my cake last minute for my birthday, o was panicking because, fiesta had closed and no where else did tres leches, I came it the lady working was very nice! I came in today they had it all ready for me. I couldn’t be happier. The prices are also SUPER reasonable!!

The food is just mouth watering . If you want something that’s different from the local regular at basically every restaurant in the Oneonta Cooperstown area this is where it’s at! If your looking for your Caribbean food fix definitely try it! Oxtail no words.,.. jerk chicken ( which is one of my personal favorite types of chicken) had a perfect spice level to it with a little sweetness. Cabbage is always on point, Rice and peas are good as always. Thanks again ❤️. Sorry I can’t give a review of the desserts as I really don’t do sweets, but my friend did get the brownies and said they were amazing.

I ordered the Valentine’s Day special of strawberries and red velvet cake and was so impressed! Besides being obviously beautiful, every strawberry was top quality. The crunch coated strawberries were unique and ended up being my favorite. The cake was perfect red velvet with a light frosting that wasn’t too sweet.
