First, I’ll tell u about the proprietors Denise and hubby Nick. Couldn’t be more accommodating, and fun to talk to. And, we (2 of us) were there yesterday, Sunday, early evening — a busy time! Taking a few minutes to tell us the history of their restaurant made us feel really ummmmm….. good! Just delightful people. As were Anna, Melissa and Zachery.
Now. We wanted to watch football and the busy-ish downstairs (although while they did have what looked to be a bangin’ bar), didn’t have tv’s.
So. CHECK THIS OUT :
Anna escorted us upstairs, sat us at a big n comfy bar, turned on 2 giant tv’s that hung right in front of us followed by Melissa with 2 absolutely delish blackberry martinis.
Sounds good so far, right?!?
Well, it continued to get better and better.
Ohhhhh. Melissa. This young lady ran up and down those stairs (to and from the kitchen) to make sure everything was PERFECT. And that, she did. (And I’m a fuss-pot and insist on scalding hot food.) Blooming eggplant. Spinach. Fries. Prime rib.
Absolutely yummy.
What more can I say? That the holiday decor was exceptionally ‘classy’ and that the private, upstairs room (which also had its own outside deck with a firepit) is perfect venue to host a private party?
Yes, I’ll add a few photos.
And, I’ll add one last comment: if you love good food, good energy, good people and a good time, make a point of going to The Stone Goat.
You’ll reeeeeely enjoy yourselves.
We did!!
Thanks again, STONE GOAT for making us feel like family. (NEVER have I said those words about an eatery. EVER. )
our party were just amazing. I highly recommend booking your next party upstairs in their beautiful party room. Can’t thank the Stone Goat enough for making my husband’s birthday such a special occasion.
We chose it to celebrate a friend’s birthday, looking for a new experience in a location that was convenient for us.
The place was busy on a Friday night, including the bar area.
If you’re planning on visiting on a Friday, I recommend making a reservation in advance.
A nice touch was the live music that night, although it was hard to hear over the noise of people chatting.
The waiter informed us that the outdoor seating area would be opening in about two weeks, which I think would improve the overall experience.
Personally, I don’t like raising my voice during dinner just to talk to those at my table.
I also liked the decor of the restaurant.
The artwork on the walls perfectly complements the overall interior design theme and gives the space a unique character, while the small ceiling lights and beautiful chandeliers create a cozy and casual atmosphere.
The service was friendly and fairly fast.
My experience with the food was a bit mixed.
The menu offered some creative options.
I chose the eggplant and lamb for my main course, but underestimated my hunger. The portions were larger than I expected.
The eggplant was both delicious and beautifully presented.
However, I think that reducing the amount of breadcrumbs would have allowed the flavor of the eggplant to shine more, as it was somewhat overshadowed.
I also appreciated the crunchy honey crust on top, which was enhanced by the chopped pistachios, basil, and spices.
As a huge fan of eggplant dishes, I always try to order it when it is on the menu.
So if you are an eggplant lover, I definitely recommend trying the Bloomin’ Eggplant.
I had the Braised lamb shanks as my main dish, which came with Caribbean spices, coconut yaca mash, queso fresco, and callaloo.
The lamb was cooked perfectly, but the puree was quite different from what I expected.
I thought it would be a potato mash, but it didn’t resemble mashed potatoes at all.
I only realized this when I checked the restaurant’s website while writing my review and saw the ingredient list.
Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the puree; perhaps it was because it was my first time trying it, but I found its texture and flavor to be quite bland. Additionally, the greens were too salty.
Overall, I struggled to appreciate this dish, but the lamb itself was delicious.
I chose Coconut crème brule for dessert, and it was absolutely delightful!
I can fully recommend it.
My friends enjoyed a dessert featuring ice cream, sorbet and sprinkles on the top.
The ice cream was good, and I sampled some as well. Just a heads up, the sprinkles contain tiny white balls that are flavorful but quite hard, so keep that in mind.
There’s also the Upstairs Taproom with a separate pub-style menu and a cigar deck that leads to the outdoor pet-friendly patio.
I will probably want to visit the restaurant again with my friends when the summer outdoor patio opens, so we can enjoy the music and try some new dishes.
nted the food beautifully. Drink menu a little low as they had a party but happy with what we ordered. Highly recommended. Ohnyes amazing fries that are cooked in the own oil. No allergy anxieties.
This place is 1000% recommended. Great food, great drinks, great people. Stone Goat is a must-go, and I’ll definitely be back.
We ordered 3 appetizers, Blooming eggplant with pesticides and honey, it was delicious, chorizo flat bread, cold and chewy and artichoke with olive, not flavorful, for main course I ordered pork loin, the presentation was like throw up thin slices of pork on top of some kind of darke mashed something with tons of fried onion, the pork was dried. My wife ordered simple pasta full of salt, our friends shared branzinos with shrimp stuffing ,they said it was OK not great.
I don’t know ,if they changed their chef and i don’t know why they took of some of their food out of their menu? But the waiter was very pleasant and friendly.
My family and I recently dined at The Stone Goat in St. James, NY, and it was truly a meal to remember. From the unique and delicious dishes to the inviting ambiance, everything about our visit was top-notch.
To start, my wife and I shared a plate of fresh oysters that were perfectly shucked and bursting with flavor—a fantastic way to begin our meal. My two daughters ordered a creative poke bowl served in shell-like tortilla cups filled with fresh raw fish. They both loved the innovative presentation and freshness of the dish.
For the main course, each of us chose something different, and every dish exceeded expectations. One of my daughters had the Coniglia Pie, a savory masterpiece with Cognac-braised rabbit, cipollini onions, parsnips, wild mushrooms, baby carrots, and an Asiago tri-colored potato crust. She loved the rich flavors and tender rabbit.
My other daughter opted for a pasta dish with shrimp, and she said it was absolutely amazing. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the pasta was rich and flavorful, making it one of her favorite meals.
My wife had the beet salad, and she couldn’t stop talking about how incredible it was. The sweet, earthy beets paired beautifully with the fresh, vibrant ingredients, making it a standout dish.
As for me, I indulged in the 45-day aged steak, and it was simply phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, juicy, and packed with deep, rich flavor. It was easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time.
The ambiance of The Stone Goat is both rustic and elegant, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring every detail of our meal was perfect.
If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers creative, expertly prepared dishes with outstanding service, The Stone Goat is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return and try more of their incredible menu!
