This is a hidden gem, a little outside of South Bay but highly worth the drive. I’ve been lucky enough to experience a lot of nice restaurants and ones with Michelin stars. I can truly say this is the best steak I have ever had in my life. I had The bone marrow which was to do die for; the A5 waygu skewer in cotton candy …mouth watering, the A5 waygu sushi which has caviar and truffle on it, and the dry aged steak. It was next level. Crispy outside crust plus the inside was melt in your mouth perfection.

On top of all the that, the staff is amazing and the ambiance is great. They made my birthday unforgettable. This is my second time here and by far my favorite restaurant in the South Bay. I will Be back!

Hidden in a rather unnoticeable square on Pacific Coast Highway, The Steak Library is a rather new steakhouse in Lomita. Online reservation is straightforward. The minimally decorated restaurant is elegant and clean. Service is exceptional! Staff is professional, attentive, and accommodating. Corkage is USD 35/btl of wine. Menu is simple. Food is reasonably priced and of superb quality. Highly recommend the aromatic Wagyu Sushi (USD 22) which melts in your mouth, the savory Wagyu Beef Tartare (USD 29), the delicately flavorful Bone Marrow (USD 26), and the juicy Dry-Aged Porterhouse 40oz Aged 30 Days (USD 185)! Absolutely love the subtle Japanese twist.

Heard great things about steak library and finally decided to give it a shot and was not disappointed. The area is located at a small secluded plaza that really should get more shine. Plenty of parking and not a difficult place to find. The food is absolutely phenomenal, with the exception of the Caesar Salad. The salad was our first experience with the food at Steak Library and it was a complete let down especially when it’s 18 dollars. The salad should receive just as much care as the rest of the dishes. The pricing at the restaurant in my opinion, is just a bit too high. It really needs to come down 10-15 percent down across the board especially for the area that it’s at. I suspect if prices were to come down, business would occupancy would improve more. If the restaurant were by the ocean with a beautiful view and music, then I’d understand the pricing.

We ordered mushrooms, asparagus, and truffle fries and they were all excellent. Fries got a little cold quickly but the rest of the meals stayed warm. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly with a nice sear and the salmon was as well. The desserts were amazing just like the rest of the food was. The quality here speaks for itself. I definitely would come more often if the pricing came down a tad but as it stands, i’ll stick to coming here on special occasions only.

2 stars because the sever and host we’re extremely nice otherwise it would be lower, food was expensive for what you get. Payed over $500 for a tomahawk for two people (which is what was recommended) that was extremely “nervy” and tough. I’ve had better steak in my back yard grill, if it was the best steak I’ve ever had or if it was good and tender the price wouldn’t be an issue. They didn’t pack all of our left overs either they left out our lobster which we asked to be packed. Its not always you get to go and spend so much on food, you work for it only to be completely disappointed.

Cozy steakhouse with amazing food and service. Hands down one of the best beef tartar dishes I’ve ever had. Whether 30 day dry aged selections or Japanese A5 Wagyu, there is no wrong choice. Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was very attentive and always with a smile.

Reservations are the way to go here.

Parking: This restaurant is located in a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking available.

Atmosphere: Perfect for a date night or special occasion.

New Steak House in the South Bay

We had a very, very nice meal. The meat is definitely the star of the show, seasoned and cooked perfectly.
Service was fast, servers were friendly, ambiance was warm and elegant with soft lighting and gentle music, a comfortable environment. Approximately 10 tables and one large semi private table for parties of 8-10.
We met the owner Makoto who stopped by our table to check on our experience and thanked us for coming.
Makoto also owns the Japanese BBQ restaurant next door in the same strip mall.
We wished him much success on his new restaurant.

With that being said, the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, is there are still some kinks that need to be ironed out, in my opinion.

Grand Opening was Nov 29, 2023
Sign outside still shows “Opening Soon” The doors are blacked out and almost looks like it’s closed. It was beautifully decorated once inside.

They advertise a cocktail bar, but unfortunately they do not have a liquor license and serve “mocktails” Makoto, the owner said that they probably will not be getting one, only serving wine and beer at this time.

Our reservation was at 7pm on a Saturday night and they were already out the Caesar’s salad. They also had a table of 6 walk out because they were out of the seafood tower.

All side dishes are made to share except the mashed potatoes, we ended ordering a second side of potatoes, our first batch was so good and the second order was not so good. Lacking consistency there, that was disappointing.

Over all a good experience, the owner did say he was going to be adding more wines to the menu (they have a $35 corkage fee) and changing featured menu, we definitely need some fine dining in the South Bay, hopefully they smooth out the bumps soon.

Sister restaurant of Tamean. Good quality meats, with good options. Service is great. Big downside is they do not have a full liquor license so only beer and wine.
Be prepared to pay for quality price meats. Plenty of parking. Nice quiet.

The atmosphere was very nice. The steak was very good just a little too salty. The shrimp appetizer was excellent. For $35 the lobster Mac n Cheese was horrible sent it back. The garlic wasn’t good and the cream spinach was very soupy. We order green tea and I have never been to a restaurant where you can’t get a refill on tea the guy said you can reuse the tea bag over and over wow. The bread was complimentary but we had to order an appetizers first to get the bread? Is was five of us celebrating an employee birthday. That’s just are experience yours my be different
