I had the opportunity to stop by The Steakhouse for lunch, and I’ll admit—it caught me off guard. Coming from Texas, I had my expectations, but … well, never mind. Let’s just say I was in for a pleasant surprise.
What first grabbed my attention? Gizzards. Yes, gizzards! And before this visit, I never really understood what they were. For the uninitiated, chicken gizzards are part of the bird’s digestive system—essentially the muscular “stomach” that grinds food since birds don’t have teeth. It’s a quirky bit of biology that makes for some seriously nostalgic comfort food.
My grandmother used to make gizzards all the time, so seeing them on the buffet instantly took me back. These were tender, well-seasoned, and paired beautifully with the other Southern staples on my plate.
Having eaten my way across Georgia, I found myself subconsciously comparing dishes to favorites from other spots—but The Steakhouse held its own. I left satisfied, reminded of home, and genuinely glad I got a real taste of Middle Georgia’s soulful cooking.

The salad was fantastic, there wasn’t a great selection, but what they did have was exceptionally fresh. The steak our was a disappointment.

Southern hospitality! We went on Saturday. Ordered their Saturday night special recommended by waitress. Surf and turf. We upgraded to grill salmon. 7 Oz steak cooked and seasoned just right. Loved simple salad buffet. Not a fan of soft serve but you might like it. Free to go drinks. Decor is a little dated but very, very clean. Love those Dawgs! They invited us back to their Valentine Dinner special . A hidden gem if traveling through.

Dining in is pretty good. However, the catering is awful and is probably going to get someone very sick! When you order for group catering it is literally a coin toss whether it’s decent or utter garbage. We had the pleasure of ordering a meatloaf meal recently and what we received was (semi cooked) beef tartar with onions and ketchup.

Stumbled across this gem on a 6 hour drive home from the beach.. the exterior found us a bit leery if it was in fact a restaurant.. but it is in fact a wonderful place to eat.
If there be one critique, the prepackaged lettuce on the salad bar was limp and overall the salad bar was lacking.
Overall, a fantastic experience.

Visit Middle Georgia
The best fried chicken in Middle Georgia and most likely the state! The Sunday buffet is our favorite time to go. All the food and sides are fantastic.

I have to say, after reading the good reviews I was quite disappointed. Walking in I thought, ok not the best looking place, but it’s suppose to be good local food. The chicken was not good at all. But maybe that’s just my fault. I mean I did order chicken at a place called The Steak House. The salad was your typical bag of salad straight off the shelf of Harvey’s. The cucumbers on the salad bar were almost translucent. Again maybe that’s just me being picky and wanting fresh sliced veggies on a salad bar. The service was absolutely terrible. We waited forever for everything. Trust me, it was not because they were slammed with business. I’m actually wondering if this is the same place the other 5 star reviewers ate. Perhaps it’s because I went for dinner and ordered off the menu. I guess I should try lunch at the buffet before completely writing this place off. Maybe that’s why the service was rated so good in other reviews, they went and got their own food from the buffet.

I went there for the buffet and can’t say anything bad about the food. Everything was perfect and tasted like real homemade food. I had some fried chicken with biscuits, and for dessert I got a banana pudding. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. You won’t regret it.

Lots of people rave about The Steak House Restaurant. The food was good, my husband had a steak, I had the grilled pork chop. They were both good. The wait staff was exceptionally good. They provided disposable gloves to use at the salad bar. My 3 star rating is for cleanliness or lack of. The chairs we were in were sticky on the top backs. The carpet was very nasty and sticky in places also. The facility needs some care and cleaning. They have senior citizen specials.
