We drove over from Highlands to check out Brevard and stumbled across the Square Root! They had around a 30 minute wait when we got there so we checked out the stores around restaurant (all within walking distance). The service was excellent, atmosphere was great, and food delicious! We got the pretzel board, pecan crusted Brie, and pot stickers for appetizers! For dinner we got the trout, curry, salmon, and pork flat iron dinners! For dessert we got the key lime pie and apple pies! Everything was great! We will definitely visit in the future!

As soon as I walked in, it felt elevated, elegant, and welcoming.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. A nice selection for anyone, while having the options to enjoy an elegant meal or sit down and have a casual dinner.
I tried the Risotto, which was creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor.
The fried Brussel sprouts were equally delicious, with just the perfect amount of glaze to compliment it.
I decided to try the chicken curry; if you are a fan of Indian Cuisine, they hit the mark. It is not as spicy as traditionally, though it has just enough.
The only protion that was not overly enjoyed was the eclair. The eclair is a generous portion, and well put together. But the chestnut chocolate filling, tasted to be too much of the same chocolate flavor with no relief and contrast, as a tradition eclair would have. That is my opinion.
I would recommend this restaurant and happily return every time I visit this quant town.

I loved this place, a fun restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside, the staff were amazing and so informative. I loved that they had a little from different cuisines. We had the chicken curry, Brinjal pakoras, Fried green tomatoes and the Cedar salmon and for drinks we had the Basil blast. Everything was so delicious. The taste of the Indian food was so good, given it was majorly an American restaurant. We loved that our pet was accommodated.

Had a wonderful luncheon with the wife at The Square Root in downtown Brevard. My wife had the crawfish stuffed trout with lobster morney sauce which she enjoyed thoroughly. I had the duck l’orang special which was also amazing. Both came with house salads.
Our server was friendly and attentive. Our food came out in a timely manner.
The place was packed so we were fortunate to get a table without waiting. The noise level made conversation a little difficult.
Weather permitting I would choose the outside patio over inside dining.
Overall a great experience… 5 Stars!

Quaint restaurant. A Brevard staple. Many restaurants here change over quickly and don’t survive the off season, but this one does.
The food is 90% great. The Cobb salad is delicious. Yummy soup and entree specials change regularly. My husband got the peach pork dish and it was 100% raw in the middle, but other than that- great. The pretzel charcuterie is fantastic. Admiral cocktail was pretty good – a little pricey for lack of kick to it.
Also beware of pricing. They don’t mark everything and dishes that sound simple are randomly $50+. Wine too!

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. I opted for the chicken marsala with parmesan truffle risotto for Christmas Eve dinner, while the rest of my party enjoyed the NC trout. Every dish was a hit, and everyone left happy. Service was warm, attentive, and made the evening feel special. Highly recommend!

From the moment we walked in, mom and I could sense the excellent staff, atmosphere, and enthusiasm for culinary compatiblity as a consumer. I ask for trout and let our waiter know I have a black pepper allergy. Ryan, our waiter was beyond incredible and made the dining experience extra special for my birthday. They informed us that the chef/owner is open to accommodate and make all things fresh or substitute an element of the dish to suit the pallet. I had the most amazing trout dinner! With a substitution of rice instead of barley, the trout was cooked to perfection with a lite sauce and others around asked to order the same dish! No wonder “Square Root” has been the top restaurant in Brevard for 15 years per Asheville Magazine. I highly recommend. My mom was also delighted with her steak dish accompanied by sweet potato and rosemary. Tuesdays are half price of a bottle of wine so enjoy and treat yourself!

Such a cute place with some local history. We enjoyed dinner tonight and dessert. The drinks were amazing! Brenton was our server and was very attentive and knowledgeable. Ask for him when you come in but I heard the other servers and they were very hospitable too! We tried the fall seasoned beets for appetizer and dessert was the peanut butter pie. Their decorator made the pretty flowers! They made our night perfect under the sting lights at the patio! Bravo!

Excellent meal, everything was tasty and presented well. Connor did a great job taking care of our table. We got there at 5:30 on a Friday and got one of the last outdoor tables before the wait started. Popular place, will be back.
