Great place, love bringing family and friends here. The food was excellent, I enjoyed the mixed kebab platter and chicken lollipop especially. The Indo-Chinese dishes also hit the spot! The owner, Austin, was also was very caring and respectful. Super funny guy, and great place. Totally worth a trip.

I recently visited The Spice Room in Elmwood Park, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine with a modern, welcoming vibe, this is the place to be.
The Food:
We started with the Gobi Manchurian (or perhaps the Chilli Cauliflower), which had the perfect balance of spice and tang—highly addictive! For the main course, the Paneer Butter Masala was incredibly rich and creamy, pairing perfectly with the fluffy Basmati Rice. You can’t go wrong with their bread; the Butter Naan was warm, soft, and had that perfect slight char from the tandoor. To wash it all down, the Mango Lassi was thick, fresh, and the perfect sweet contrast to the spices.
The Atmosphere:
The restaurant itself is beautiful. I loved the deep blue accent walls and the elegant floral arrangements—it creates a warm, upscale feel that’s perfect for a date night or a nice family dinner. The space is clean, well-lit, and the service was attentive and friendly.
Verdict:
Elmwood Park has a lot of dining options, but The Spice Room stands out for its quality and presentation. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!

We got to the restaurant on Valentine’s Day at around 8, and it was an hour before we were seated. The restaurant had more take out orders than one can imagine. The restaurant space is small so there are fewer tables but it was still overwhelming for the staff. I hope they had more staff. I did like that we had to wait so long but the owner was extremely polite and cognizant that the wait was not ideal. I must say though the noodles and Manchurian was so worth the wait. I absolutely love good Indo Chinese, and so very few restaurants actually know how to make it. I wasn’t huge fan of curry but as I said just the noodles are absolutely worth for me. The naan was flavorful, and gulab jamun were very good in taste. I hope they put on some better ways of reservations and handling takeouts as well as more staff. But none of that stops me from visiting again for sure. The decor is very pleasing and calming too.

The food overall was pretty good, but the spicy tikka masala wasn’t spicy at all, which was disappointing. Most of the dishes also arrived warm instead of hot. We asked for chai masala, hot sauce, and fried rice, but all were forgotten at first—we eventually had to ask the owner/manager directly just to get the fried rice.

On the positive side, the bread was excellent. I highly recommend the spicy garlic naan. The water tasted great, and the atmosphere was truly outstanding: very formal, elegant, and clean, with crisp white tablecloths and well-kept restrooms. Once it finally arrived, the fried rice was delicious.

The menus were creative and genuinely impressive. With a little improvement in service and attention to orders, this place could easily be exceptional.

When they say authentic they mean it! Had lunch here a few days back and had an amazing time. Really good food with great service. The owner came also came over to our table, chatted with us and our baby and recommended dishes to order. Honestly a hidden gem in the area!

The service was exceptional, and the waiters were courteous. The food was delicious and pretty authentic. We ordered the onion Bhajiya and Gobi Manchurian for appetizers. It was not oily and had big pieces of cauliflower. (someplace will have mainly batter). The main course was Baghare bangain and Rogan Josh. The garlic naan was exceptional. Coconut caramel custard for desert ( the waiters recommendation ) was tasty. The place is clean, including the restrooms. Looking forward to eating out here again.

First visit to Spice Room gets a thumbs up! Our group of six enjoyed the food and hospitality here. Austin was always around, making sure we had everything! Lamb chops, hara paneeer, chicken, and gobi appetizers will bring you back here again and again. For the main course, we got Indian-chinese dishes. Very few restaurants get it right, but all items we tried at Spice Room were delicious. Definitely try the Sechuan noodles (a few more veges in it would take it up a notch for me). Overall, a great find!
