Feels like eating dinner at a friend’s dinner party, except way better. We had fresh cracklings with cheese dip, local beer, meatloaf and a buffalo burger. Meatloaf was the best we’ve had; fresh, well seasoned and moist. No ketchup! Buffalo burger was cooked EXACTLY like I ordered it. Smothered with caramelized onions and mushrooms with cheddar. When the cracklings came they were still popping and piled up on the plate. We thought for sure we’d have to take some home. Nope! Too good to stop eating. Service was friendly and timely. Atmosphere was casual but comfortable with upholstered chairs and tables that looked like salt washed wood. Come for a meal, a beer and those cracklings or just dessert. You won’t be sorry.

Quick table service. Got our food in about 15 minutes. Food was DELICIOUS. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was TASTY. Then I helped eat elk chili and fries. That elk chili is SUPER GOOD. So good that we got some to go to eat at a later date. Had the bourbon bread pudding and it was AWESOME. Quick refills on drinks. Would go back to eat other entrees and appetizers. Overall BEST comfort food joints in the area!!!!!

Definitely a must eat here place! Gluten free frenzy! For the first time in 9 years, I just had fried pickles, fried chicken, fried okra, and restaurant broccoli and rice casserole! My husband got the chicken fried steak and okra…and I actually got to try his food for a change! The cream gravy is even gluten free!!!
Marvin is THE MAN! His cooking has let me human with everyone else. So many restaurants don’t care and these folks do. It’s the best feeling to not know what I want to eat instead of wondering what I can eat. I am thrilled to find this place.
Brittany and Lyn made us so comfortable and it felt like old friends having us over for dinner instead of going out to eat. We head to Colorado at least 4 times a year and hope to live here soon and I know that we’ll be back ASAP.

Excellent food! Choices for all from healthy to comfort. reason for 4star prices are high, sides are extra so can run a pretty penny. All in all good little cafe with views of Pike’s peak.

I had the Pot Roast which was very tasty and tender. We ordered the Fried Pickles for an appetizer but wish we had ordered the Fresh Fried Pork Rinds after seeing them go to a table near us. The owner is very sweet and has a gem of a place to eat.

What a refreshing change for WP! The food is delicious and the owner is delightful! Have a slice of homemade German chocolate cake or an order of Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce! You won’t be disappointed! Everything is made from scratch and it shows in how wonderfully delicious everything is.

I am so glad we gave this place a second chance. There are not very many restaurants in Woodland Park or around it. My wife and I had a lot of errands to run around town and we had not had lunch, so I asked if we could give Southern Lilly a second chance, and I was craving some fried catfish. Our previous visit was pretty bland and she gave me a look like I was crazy, but she said, “just one more chance!”
Wow! This time was great! We came in around 3pm. A very late lunch, early supper.
We started with the fried pickle chips. They were so hot we had to wait a little to eat them, but they were seasoned perfectly and were delicious with the dip (which was a tasty ranch style dressing).
My wife ordered the boneless chicken thighs and fried corn… Along with a cream gravy. Unlike last time, we never needed the salt or pepper shakers for anything on our plates! Everything was seasoned perfectly! She kept commenting on how much she enjoyed the flavor of her chicken and the excellent pan fried flavor of the corn. So I tried the corn, and I had to agree! It was very unexpected after our last try here.
I had the fried catfish and coleslaw. My fish was very fresh, hot, and delicious, and a generous sized piece of fish! The breading on the fish was cooked exactly like I prefer it… crispy and well seasoned! And the coleslaw was even better than last time! My wife also tried my coleslaw and stated, “It’s exactly the way I like it!” The coleslaw was made the preferred southern way, with mayo and vinegar. Not too tart, but well balanced!
We were both glad we gave Southern Lilly another try. Our previous visit was about 7 months prior, and we kept holding off. We are both very glad to see that the flavors/seasoning has greatly improved as there aren’t a lot of other options if you want to stay within Woodland Park!

Great lunch at this place. Kids friendly, great service and really good food. We had the fried chicken that was also gluten free, crispy and tasty. We also had the yummy fried pickles and the baked potatoe.
