Django wholeheartedly approved. The rotating list of soups always includes at least one vegetarian and gluten free soup, and they are all delicious. Today I had bean & bacon soup, which paired wonderfully with their brown bread ($1.85), also served warm. Reminds me of the bread my mom would make from scratch when I was little. This is definitely a staple for lunches.

I loved this Charming little restaurant for many years, but it’s no longer the same place. It shows excessive signs of fatigue and definitely needs a facelift. It’s still a good place to go for

Amazing. After 8 years of working in Oak Ridge I finally decided to try The Soup Kitchen and all I can say is wow. I got in just before the lunch rush and got the tomato soup and 3 cheese grilled sandwich. Firstly, that tomato soup is more of a stew it is so thick and simply amazing but that grilled cheese was next level, even plain. I will certainly not wait 8 years to return.

Our visit to the Soup Kitchen was the first time in years. We made the deliberate side trip visit as a remembrance of the time we lived in Oak Ridge about 25 years ago. The place was just as quaint as always and the food is still the best soup and sides around. The variety of soups and bread can’t be matched. Generous portions are the mainstay with delicious choices. If you are in the area make the trip to the Soup Kitchen.

I don’t know why Google says I was there three days ago, but since the 80’s when I was introduced by my mother who worked nearby, I have always loved the Soup Kitchen. I think it may have been where I stopped when I got caught for speeding. I have had to slow down on the soup and sandwiches, as it is unfortunate that the Soup Kitchen has recently gotten too pricey for me, just like speeding tickets. It almost feels like the prices doubled on Door Dash. What happened, Soup Kitchen? I would create you your own website for free egg salad sandwiches? Where did the cold sandwich combo go?

The smell of a loving embrace and comforting food is the first sense I got when walking in. As I met the ladies when entering in the door, I noticed how down- to-earth and genuine all the employees are here. There is so much beauty in this place that is solid and authentic.

The Soup Kitchen is an Oak Ridge institution. I love it! Sometimes, the soups need some extra salt and/or pepper, but for those on salt-limited diets that is a plus. Hearty Vegetable is always a go-to, but I had the Beefy Mac the other day and it was awesome. It had cabbage…mmmm.
