Smokin’Ox BBQ is worth the visit! We tried the brisket tacos, fried okra, smoked and flash fried wings, and cinnamon churros. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the salesperson, servers, and workers were friendly and attentive, and they are service dog friendly!! We will definitely be back!

After seeing some reviews on this place I decided to give it a try. First time coming here and it’ll be the last. The girls working there were pleasant, no issue there. But the food was WAY overpriced for what you get. I got just the brisket sandwich, a small mac n cheese, and a regular drink. It was $23 before a tip! For just one person. I have no problem paying a higher price for food if it’s some top tier quality. But, the food was barely warm at best. The Mac n cheese was bland with really no flavor. The sandwich was just decent with the BBQ sauce on it, it was dry otherwise. There are much better food options in the area for half the price. I know me not taking my business back there isn’t going to make or break them, but I’m hoping they see this review and consider some changes.

this place is SO GOOD!! my mom and i just discovered it this past saturday and we are obsessed. the mac n cheese tastes homemade and is easily the best mac n cheese i’ve had at any restaurant ever. the potato salad is to DIE for!!! i had the pulled pork tacos and they were so juicy and delicious. i wish they were open mondays and tuesdays, since my mom were excited to order more but they’re closed! we decided that if smokin ox wasn’t open, then we weren’t getting bbq. i love this place so much.

The food was delicious. I wanted to try everything. The ribs were tender, the brisket was juicy, the baked beans weren’t too sweet, and the dipping fries were delicious and ingenious. And we topped it off with some banana pudding that sealed the deal. This is going to be a regular place to eat from now on.

The barbecued meats are cooked correctly to be tender and moist, but the lack of flavor makes everything a bit bland. The coleslaw is good, but the amount of celery seed is a bit overpowering. All the other sides we tried were good. If the meats were seasoned better, even with a little salt, it would definitely be worth coming back for.

I’ve lived in Florida for about 6 years now, and have been trying different BBQ places, looking for a really good one. I’ve found some okay ones that I occasionally go back to. I was in Winter Haven running some errands and noticed a bunch of BBQ places as I drove around, so decided to pick one for lunch. Smokin’ OX was nearby and I decided to go there. The interior was nice and clean, nice views out the windows, good layout, order at the counter and have a seat. The menu was pretty simple, which I like, too many items and then nothing is your specialty. And pretty simple pricing too, sides and drinks all the same price. The food came out and looked good. I had a 1/2 rack of ribs, green beans and potato wedges. The meal came with 2 pieces of garlic bread. Very reasonable portions. There were 4 sauces on the table to choose from. My favorite was the Sweet, the Original a close 2nd. The Hot was good, but a little too hot for me. Too much heat to me can cover up the flavor of the meat itself. This is one of the first places where I could have eaten the ribs by themselves with no sauce, they were that good, and tender. I could just scrape the meat off the bones. The green beans were very flavorful and excellent. The garlic bread was even good, some places you barely taste the garlic flavor, but this was just right. Even the potato wedges were excellent, they were sliced a little thinner than most places, and they started to curl and were crispy, somewhere between the thick wedges most places serve and chips. Very, very good. And to repeat myself, the ribs were awesome. Later someone came out, either the chef, manager, owner, not sure, but she walked around checking on how people were doing, knew some customers. Overall, great service, from ordering, checking up on things, etc. So, this is the place for BBQ for me. I will be back. I’d highly recommend it also. Only one thing, I’d recommend providing a couple wet-naps when you bring out an order.

Family and I visited these past 2 Saturday’s and had same cashier/server. She was great and very attentive. So much, that this past Sat, hubby ordered regular sausage and they brought out the cheddar and jalapeños one. He didn’t say anything to staff but leaned and told me. She was at register and must of noticed something and came over and noticed it was wrong sausage and hubby told her it was fine, she was ready to change if needed.
The food is Amazing and if ever needing catering, they will be the one’s I’ll go to.

We ordered through delivery and the food came in still pretty hot! The BBQ is great and the star of the show for me were the sides! The loaded potato salad was delicious and so was the corn casserole! This restaurant is now on my BBQ rotation for polk county

I feel like this place could definitely pop off better if they fixed a few things with their menu

#1 – The Brisket, it’s cooked well and is tender and wasn’t dry, that I can give a lot of credit for because a lot of places I’ve had end up overcooking it and it just ends up dry. The one issue I have is the flavor, I couldn’t taste any type of seasoning, no salt, no pepper, no nothing. If they use a strong seasoning rub and maybe inject the brisket with some type of marinade or something this could be really well

#2 – Fat Mac. Now for this one, it’s cheesy, but that’s about it, the noodles were definitely cooked a little too long because they were very mushy. Just like the brisket previously the flavor is pretty much absent, the pork had very minimal flavor as well. It’s basically just noodles cheese and meat with no flavor, if they add seasoning to the cheese/cheese sauce they’d use especially with some type of BBQ spice, this will be a HIT

#3 – Fried Pickles. I have no complaints with them, they were pretty good and the ranch that came with it was also nice!

Overall I think if they put a little more love and seasoning into some of their food these guys could definitely become the #1 BBQ spot around here! You guys have the potential to do so and I believe you guys can do it!
