With few suitable midday Sunday options in Oxford, my wife & I chose to eat lunch @ The Smokehouse in Hueston Woods State Park. The restaurant is one floor down from the Lodge guest lobby; furnishings are simple & dining space decorations are minimal, but the architecture plus the lake view make for a very pleasant dining experience. The young lady at the hostess station & those serving tables were all very cordial and professional. Our waitress Lyndsay T was particularly attentive & she guided us through some of the details of the lunch options.
The one-page-each lunch & dinner menus offer a good variety of apps & soups/salads & dishes; they also have a separate pizza menu. My generous sized Great Ohio Lodges Burger was perfectly cooked & tasty, with good & hot steak fries; my wife’s half-sized Starvin’ Arvan roast beef sandwich with a cup of Chicken Dumpling soup was also a very satisfying pairing. We would definitely return to The Smokehouse if we were staying again in the area (or at the Lodge).

Absolute wonderful experience. We got a cabin for the weekend, spent unplugged time in nature, then ventured to the smokehouse for dinner. Everything was perfect, from the old fashioned to the raspberry dessert. Sophia was attentive, prompt and kind. 10/10 recommend planning a mini vacation here

years ago it used to be fantastic food, and the menu was good too, but since coronavirus, the menu has changed and dwindled into very few popular choices. they don’t even have something as popular/staple a favorite as pot roast and mashed potatoes anymore, or an option of baked beans, w/used to be the best. The hamburgers have shrunk into less than 1/2 (for the same price or more of course). The choices are terrible and few, and the food is worse. We got used to coming to the Lodge and eating at The Smokehouse as our most looked forward to part, but won’t be going back anymore after we’ve given it a lot of tries in the past couple years, and it has never improved, only gotten worse.

Very friendly staff, everyone we interacted with in the lodge were friendly. Small dining area but was low key and comfortable. Great vibe for the area. I got the chicken tortellini alfredo which was delicious. My noodles seemed slightly overcooked, but the rest of the dish and flavor were great. My friend got the chicken pot pie and said it was very good as well. Likely to return to try different dishes.

We new the storm was coming but the power outage was a bit of a surprise. That being said IT TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF to get extra blankets it should not have taken that long to he boys were scared wouldn’t let me leave them so my Mom had to find her way to the front desk and request blankets. Other than that great food and service always our favorite place to be around the holidays enjoying the pool good food and family. We will be back and looking forward to it.

Just a note to the cook: Please stop putting black pepper on everything before you get the order. There are those of us with black pepper allergies who need to avoid it and there’s already black pepper on the table. Also, the mashed potatoes are actually mashed potatoes with a heavy dose of garlic. Couldn’t taste the mashed potatoes. Only garlic.

We just had breakfast here and it was such a pleasure. The prices were some of the most reasonable I’ve ever seen for such generous portions. The surface was prompt and friendly and attentive. For dinner time I highly recommend the pizza. Once again a very reasonable price and so delicious.

Every person we interacted with was friendly, professional, great attitude! Food was delicious, drinks were delicious. Stopped by the coffee shop this morning and the girl running it is wonderful. I hate Starbucks but she gave me a really good dialed in espresso shot, so she knows what she’s doin back there!! Also they have shaved ice for their drinks and im obsessed. Loved it.

Should have known when there was no one there at 6:00pm. Service was slow, bread was brought out without butter, can of beer, no glass, food was a mixed bag. Chicken fingers and french onion soup was good. Crab mac and cheese was good but cold. Crab cakes were the worst I have ever tasted. Burnt and odd tasting. Throw the recipe away and start over. Pork chop special was dry and tough.
Prices were on the high side so my expectations were high.
Avoid this place. Horrible.
