Positives:
1. Easy to find with free parking along the street.
2. Awesomely decorated with Star Wars, Gremlins, and other film memorabilia from the late 70’s through the 80’s. Main focus is Star Wars. We really enjoyed the environment including the music from the same era.
3. Family owned and operated, which is a joy to see these days. Bravo!
4. Focused menu. Gordon Ramsay would be applauding.. simple menu with dishes done right! Currently (and could change) Friday’s menu is Nashville Hot Chicken and Saturday’s is Smashed Burgers.
5. No tipping! Priced appropriately considering one would not need to pay the 10-20% tip (many times for no real service).
6. Customer service is not impacted by lack of tips. This family’s focus is their customers and it shows. Clean environment, clean tables, polite service with a smile. (The teenage kids are awesome.)
7. The food! We went today, Friday, for lunch. We were expecting to order hamburgers, but we’re happy to order two Nashville Hot Chicken dishes. My wife ordered the sandwich and I ordered the strips. Both dishes were delivered quickly and we were both very pleased. The owners thoughtfully placed a cart so that diners could add their own fixins such as condiments, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, jalapeños, etc. to their sandwiches. The chicken was well cooked, tender and juicy. They had 4 heat levels from Mild to Insane. And the Fries.. awesomely good. Cooked in beef talo and spiced very nicely.
8. Portions were spot on. Ample fries and the chicken strip size was not disappointing. The sandwich had 2 strips and my plate had 5. Okay, I had no idea what size they were. I should have ordered 3, but I got ‘er done!
Negatives:
1. Currently only open on Fridays and Saturdays.
2. The only knock, and I am certain they would have addressed it had I asked, the Nashville Hot spice wasn’t so hot. The flavor was awesome. But being from Nashville and having eaten NHC at many restaurants over 40 years, the heat level just wasn’t there. We both ordered Hot, but it was akin to Mild in most other NHC restaurants in Nashville. On our next go we will order Insane unless they happen to bump it up a notch.
Summary: Go! Go! Go! We drive 45 minutes to get there. Well worth it! And we will be back.. soon!
