The Sloop is a locals eatery and watering hole. We do welcome families and children but please remember that we are a sports bar with great homemade items. We do enjoy our island visitors as well! Due to our size limitation we can only handle seating of 8 or less during peak hours. Unfortunately we cannot accept to go orders during peak hours. This is usually from 11:30am-2:00pm during lunch and 6:30pm-8:30pm during dinner. Due to our size and staff limitations our to go menu is limited. Thank you for understanding.

My family and I visited on Fall Break and we loved this little hole in the wall. We were looking for something a little different than the tourist traps off the beach and this place did not disappoint. The waitress was sweet and did a great job. She was very impressive as she did not even have to write anything down (there was 6 of us) and the entire order came out correctly! Everything came out quickly and without a single issue. We had two appetizers, the cheesesteak egg rolls and the stuffed mushrooms. They were our favorites! Great place! Amazing food! Amazing staff! The prices were great to. It was about $70 for 4 of us. Not bad at all.

If you are anywhere near Gulf Shores and you love a good Philly cheesesteak, you absolutely have to stop by The Sloop. I cannot say enough about how good this sandwich was. I went with the cheese whiz because that’s how the real ones in Philly are traditionally made and I am so glad I did. The flavor combination was perfect. The meat was juicy and tender, the cheese was creamy and melted perfectly through every bite, and the grilled onions, mushrooms, and peppers brought the whole thing together in the best way possible.
It also comes with homemade potato chips that are just next level. You can tell they were made fresh and they have that perfect balance of crunch and salt that makes you want to keep eating even after you are full. I also tried the Philly eggrolls and those were a total hit with my wife. Crispy on the outside, loaded with the same savory Philly cheesesteak filling inside, they nailed it.
The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a local Gulf Shores spot. It has that cool laid back dive bar vibe where everyone feels welcome. They have live music out back most nights and the place sits right under the bridge which makes it a fun and easy stop whether you are coming off the water or just exploring town.
As for the value, the pricing is awesome. Ten bucks for the 5 1/4 inch sandwich or eighteen bucks for the big 11 1/2 inch version and trust me every penny is worth it. I went for the full size and did not regret it for a second. It is one of those meals that just hits all the right notes. Hearty, flavorful, and made with care.
If you are in Gulf Shores, do yourself a favor and grab a Philly at The Sloop. You will not be disappointed.

We had such a great time at The Sloop! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, the service was friendly, and the food was absolutely fantastic.

Best bar food in town..and there’s really no close second. Legit cheesesteak – order with extra american cheese and onion. Really good Italians too. Good crispy little wings and boardwalk fries. Fun little outdoor area with music!

Gonna be honest- wasn’t expecting much. Definitely a dive bar (but kids are allowed for dining). Went late at night during the off season. Service and food were GREAT. We got the Italian sandwich, beer cheese soup, garden salad with lemon garlic dressing, Italian salad, texas cheese steak and hot wing hoagie. All of it was hands down SO good. They’re turning it out. We want to go back before we leave town. Stop by! You don’t want to miss this!

AMAZING! We looked up a sub place, and the Sloop popped up. My girlfriends and I came to the conclusion that this was the best food we had the entire trip. I highly recommend this little local whole in the wall spot. They had live music outside, too. We had the huge hot dog, steak Philly egg rolls, and quasadillas. We sat at the bar and saw the food coming up to the windows. Everything looked so good. Don’t leave Gulf Shores without paying a visit to this local spot.

In the Gulf Shores area, The Sloop is THE local dive bar. It’s that place you go for a game ⚾️ , great food, drinks and dinner… away from the crazy crowds.
We came across it by chance – mostly it was the only place open past 9 pm – and the menu was amazing for late night to-go. You’ll love the fun, eclectic decor following a nautical ⛵️ decor with the stickers, pictures, and storied history only a long time favorite could casually showcase.
Ultimately, we chose cheesesteaks for our order. Both chicken and steak were amazing.
Drinks at the bar were fantastic.
2025 Drop-in update… Just arrived back in Gulf Shores for the week and stopped by on the way to grab an awesome, easy dinner. This is still the coolest spot.
