Not a single employee that works here wants to be employed here. Their lack of enthusiasm shows in the service but also in their facial expressions. We watched several tables walk out while we waited for our server to come over.
The salmon nigiri looks like it was cut by someone who has never cut sushi before. We have been here in the past and this was disappointing. The roll looked great but unfortunately tasted like it had sat in a cooler for at least a day. I think giant eagle sushi tastes better tbh.
The best thing about this place was the cucumber wasabi cooler but I couldn’t even enjoy that after we got the roll bc my taste buds were so blown out by the spice level in the “siracha mayo” that was watery?
The roll was pretty.
Honestly prior to this experience I would have recommended this place as an experience to friends that are not super into sushi. However, this place will never get a recommendation from me or take up space in my brain again.
The mermaid wasn’t the only slippery thing about our experience at this establishment last night. My boyfriend and I decided to give this casual spot a try after hearing positive reviews — a decision we quickly regretted.
We were seated promptly, but it took nearly 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order. From there, things only got worse. Our food — just two rolls and the chef’s sashimi — took 40 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, the sashimi was inedible. The tuna tasted overwhelmingly fishy, the salmon was poorly cut, and the yellowtail looked questionable — almost spoiled. Despite the untouched sashimi plate sitting in front of us, our server never checked in to ask how things were. We only saw him again when we flagged him down for the check.
The Beetlejuice roll we ordered was missing the wasabi tobiko listed on the menu, and one piece contained a mystery chunk that turned out to be a piece of lemon — rind and all.
What was supposed to be a quick, easy dinner turned into an hour-and-a-half ordeal. Between the slow service, the missing ingredients, and the quality of the fish, I can confidently say this was one of the worst sushi experiences I’ve had in the Pittsburgh area.
Both the food and the service were unacceptable. Management seriously needs to reevaluate how this place is being run.
hands down our favorite sushi in the area! take out service can be a bit slow, but worth it for the creative, loaded rolls they have. chicken and steak rolls are good for the raw/fish-averse
Miso soup was some of the best I have ever eaten.
Definitely will be back to try other menu items.
We arrived at 5:35 on a Saturday, and only about 7 tables (most of those had their food) were full at that time. It took about 10 mins before the host realized we were waiting as they were standing at the bar talking. Not getting drinks or giving food orders, but just everyday chit chat. We were finally sat and it took the bartender about 10mins to come over and take our orders and our food order as she stated she would be our server. After taking our drink order it was another 10mins before we got our drinks. We had ordered an appetizer when we placed our drink order. It was 6:30 when we finally got our appetizer. That was after we told our server we never got it. It came out within 2 mins of telling her and it wasn’t as warm as it should have been. When the bartender took our food order the host came to her with an appetizer we ordered and they didn’t know whose table it went too. The bartender didn’t know either and they then asked another table and took it to the back. When we got our appetizer, we feel it was the one they set back there. We did not get any extra plates or silverware or napkins when the appetizer was brought out to us.
It was 6:50 by the time we got our food. Again, the restaurant was not busy when we got here. Which is over an hour of waiting. We also got a plastic fork for my mother in laws bowl she ordered.
We heard the bartender say 4 chefs in the back, but when it wasn’t busy; that shouldn’t be a problem.
The atmosphere was clean and nice; but I wouldn’t bring my young kid due to the explicit music that was playing.
We liked the food and the bartender serving us was nice, but not worth the wait of time.
Edited for response to feedback:
I wanted to clarify that we did not have a young child with us so it wasn’t a mistake by your hostess. We felt for your bartender who was running around doing so much, and we did not know about the under staffing until we got our check. When I stated there was 7 tables full at the time we got there, it was from both sides. 5 in the dining and 2 in the bar. As the night progressed; yes it did get full.
Just wanted to clarify.
