Our food focus is the menu is made from products made in house, it also focuses on dietary needs. We cater largely to guests who are Gluten free, Vegan as well those sensitive to dairy, yet we smoke smoke our own house made sausages and serve fish. Last we randomly ordered in from this place and we were impressed by Pork wiener schnitzel, Vegan Gnocchi, and salted caramel panna cotta. Today, we decided that this place would be our first brunch of 2026. Our Austrian bacon pancake and House cured & smoked salmon hash were amazing! The Bavarian Braised Red Cabbage was also perfect. The vibe was cozy and warm. The service was great. We definitely will eat here again soon.

My girlfriend and I got breakfast here one day and it was a pretty bad experience. She got a waffle and a sausage and I got eggs Benedict.
The sausage had good flavor but was overcooked and dry. Her waffle was undercooked and too soft and the worst part was that the owner/waiter brought a selection of syrups for the waffle and ALL OF THEM WERE INFESTED WITH ANTS! Not just a couple either, tons in each bottle both dead and alive. Unfortunately she didn’t notice until after she poured the syrup on her waffle/plate and it ruined her breakfast.
My eggs (poached) were so overcooked that they were borderline chalky like a hard boiled eggs. The hollandaise sauce was also really poorly done and had a curdled texture and parts of it were separating (rather than a smooth and nicely homogenized sauce). The food pictured is my dish and you can see the texture of the egg yolk and Hollandaise sauce in it. Even the bread underneath wasn’t good as it was completely soggy since they didn’t use a muffin or something with more of crust to help keep its texture in tact while under the egg and sauce.
The owner did at least apologize for the ants in the syrups and offered to bring more but at that point we’d lost our appetites. He ended up comping the waffle only, but based on the severity of the issues we were honestly expecting that he’d comp the entire meal. Another odd thing is he even treated us like we were a bit of an inconvenience for him even though they’d just given us both poorly made meals and ant infested food.
Atmosphere is cozy and there’s some cool decor in there, but based on how the food was I won’t ever go back or recommend it to anybody.

Went here for lunch. This place is so cozy and cute, would love to come back for brunch sometime. Was looking for Vegitarian German food options and wasn’t disappointed! Food was yummy and comforting.

Quaint little hole in the wall neighborhood restaurant. We arrived early, which was likely a good thing; one guy was running the show that night and he kept on top of things. Portion sizing was bigger than expected and we had to take some to go (great as leftovers btw). Another excellent gluten free option for people in Portland. I would definitely eat here again.

Fantastic place. Food is really well made here, with a proper balance of flavors and unpretentious but aesthetically pleasing presentation. The house ginger beer is subtle, definitely ginger, and not terribly sweet. Coffee is also top notch. Everything on the menu is fantastic. We tried the yam fries, the crepes, the spawtzle, gf onion rings, Hungarian sausage pasta and the beef renoulade. Highly recommend Anthony with the house made sausage or the horseradish potatoes (the potatoes aren’t bright on horse radish, it’s a subtle undeflavor that went well with the meal.) I would have given four stars for service if the restaurant were fully staffed, but it was literally one person hosting, serving, bartending, and cooking. I would have considered this a little slow on service if there were a team, but the individual working was rocking it under the circumstances. The atmosphere is mainly rustic, simple neutral tones, wood paneling on the walls and farmhouse furniture. It’s somewhat oddly juxtaposed with a more contemporary industrial lighting, but the warm light palette helps to tie the two styles together.

Excellent dinner experience on a cold winter night. Our host was welcoming, attentive and the food was prepared with great care. My favorites were the beef rouladen, horseradish mashed potatoes and the rosehip lemonade. I appreciated the many gluten free options like the crispy delicious onion rings and deserts. I was intrigued by the brunch menu that had GF chocolate french toast and house made unique syrup!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Portland. With gluten free and vegan dietary needs, this place blows away the competition with excellent dishes that any palate would rave about. The decor is unique, cozy, and artistic. The server/owner is incredibly kind, attentive, and balanced. It feels like a homey space I can go to solo or with friends that is quietly preserving the authenticity locals and long-time Portlanders cherish. Tip extra well. Enjoy a slow meal. Appreciate a craft— The Slide Inn is a Portland passion project and a gem I will keep regularly uplifting.

An absolute gem not to be missed. Amazing dishes with many options to accommodate dietary needs, especially gluten free. The food is scratch made and amazing. And, Eugen, the owner/chef and one man show provided excellent service and shared great conversation about The Slide Inn’s history. Highly recommend!

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR GLUTEN FREE meals! The owner, Eugene has been running this amazing place for 30 years and transitioned into a more vegan, GF friendly menu. There is something for everyone. The ambiance is so beautiful, drinks are wonderful and the food is divine! I recommend the horseradish mashed potatoes AND the GF onion rings. We are definitely coming back for breakfast, Eugene really takes pride in his food and it shows with each delicious bite!
For my glutinous lovers, my BF recommends the fondue with freshly made pumpernickel bread!
