So, The atmosphere here is probably second to none. Are bartender Sarah was amazing. She can make a hell of a drink! They have about every kind of whiskey you could want. Prices are really good too I was so surprised with that. This is definitely worth driving out of your way to get to! Definitely in my top three of cocktail bars I’ve ever been to.

We LOVE The Slammer Speakeasy – an old jail building that has been beautifully restored into a one-of-a-kind experience that nods to its history. The cocktails are SO good and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. If you pay attention there’s little signs throughout the building that tell you about the history, such as the bar being one of the old jail cells. The vibe is super chill inside, and outside will be so fun in the summer with horseshoes. I love the unique journey of it where you have to enter through a garage with an old car and give a password to get in – makes it fun and feels exclusive. A definite go to spot from now on!!

The history, the location, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food all add up to an amazingly authentic speakeasy experience. I drive 30 minutes just so I can enjoy a smooth beverage, great music, and wonderful staff.

I honestly don’t like writing negative reviews about small businesses. However, I tried reaching out directly to them via their website 2x and never received a response.. I am hoping they read the Google reviews. We visited this past Sunday afternoon. I was very excited to visit as I had read a lot of great reviews and my husband and I were looking for a new place to go with a group of friends. We wanted to scope out the place first to see how it was for ourselves. While the concept and the bar are great in and of themselves, the person you had on staff at the bar that day was not. We did not get her name because she did not offer her name to us, introduce herself, have a name tag on or seem even remotely interested in interacting with us . She was far more interested in whatever she had going on on her cell phone that day. We said hello and she did not even look at us and gave a sort of a smirky kind of hello. It was somewhat weird and uncomfortable but we made the drive and wanted to stay. We were reviewing the cocktail menu and speaking out loud in front of her in the hope that she would chime in and let us know what drink specials there were that day, or offer to help, make suggestions, anything positive, but no go. Our drinks were not that great as she did not even shake them with the ice in the tins more than twice We had to keep mixing them.. The whole time she seemed rather annoyed that we probably interrupted her phone business. Did we come on an off day? She did not interact with us at all, ask if we were first-timers, tell us anything about the place despite my husband’s efforts to strike up some kind of conversation. It was a warm 85 degree day and they had the doors open so it was kind of stuffy.. There was also an awful smell coming from the bathroom or somewhere in the building the whole time, like a backed-up sewer smell. It was a bit off-putting but again we stayed for a while wanting to look around, try to enjoy the place. Luckily, there were other patrons there who were very nice and who we had very pleasant interactions with. Sadly, we will not return. It was not the real fun, welcoming, interesting experience we had read about and were looking forward to. Maybe just an off day but the feeling we got was an unwelcoming one. Had it been better, we would have stayed, ordered more drinks and took a bunch of friends back this weekend. Only giving two stars because of the cool concept.

My wife and I have now stopped by this establishment a couple of times and have had nothing but great experiences. The bartender was super nice, and the atmosphere was amazing.

Our last visit was Friday, Feb 14th, and the bartender made me one of the best old fashioned I’ve had in a very long time. You wouldn’t believe how many establishments mess up an old fashioned. This was perfectly balanced and allowed the flavor of the bourbon to come through with a slightly sweat smooth finish.

Highly recommend this bar!

Super cool place. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Outside area is really nice as well. Only downside is the vibe has really changed over the past few months. The music used to be soft and relaxing, sometimes jazz. The last two times I went the music was like a rock/grunge type genre with some rough lyrics which really takes away from the “Speakeasy” experience. The jazz bands that used to perform outside were fantastic.

Certainly one of the better venues I have ever been for a cocktail or two. The staff is great, drinks are top notch and interior of the building itself is such a cool concept and well thought out.

This place is beautiful inside. It gives off a very rustic, historic vibe. Everyone I’ve met there was very nice. There’s also an outside area if you want to get some air. Unfortunately, the prices are very high. A shot of whiskey on the rocks will run you $12 and up. Expect a bill upwards of $50 for very few drinks. It wouldn’t be too difficult to get a $100 tab if you spend any considerable amount of time there. I’d expect that from a restaurant where I’m also getting food, not a place for just drinks. Overall, it is a nice place though and would be great if you were to have a quick business meeting or something like that. If you are looking for a place to hang out and drink, you’ll need lots of money.
