An absolute gem in Petaluma!
We chose The Shuckery to celebrate a birthday, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, lively, and welcoming—exactly what you want for a special occasion.
The oysters were incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, and every dish we tried was full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared. You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into the food. The menu is creative without being overwhelming, and everything pairs wonderfully with their drink selection.
What really stood out was the service—friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. The staff made the celebration feel special without being overbearing, which made the experience even more memorable.
If you’re looking for a place with outstanding seafood, great energy, and a cozy yet vibrant vibe, The Shuckery is a must-visit. We’ll absolutely be back!

My fiancé and I were staying at Hotel Petaluma next door and decided to check this place out. Sooo glad we came in! The drinks were top notch. We ordered the Thai Cocktail (my favorite) and the mezcal drink. They definitely know what they are doing here! Everything was super well-balanced and you can tell they put a lot of thought into crafting their cocktails. We also ordered The Plateau. If you’re on the fence about it- just get it!! It’s a great sampling of all the different seafood they have. It was all excellent! Wade was our server and was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back here again if we’re in the area 🙂

Grabbed an early dinner here on our first day in Petaluma as we stayed in the hotel. Loved the counter table overlooking to the intersection of town. Service was alittle slow and wasn’t really attentive. My wife accidentally tipped over her wine glass and spilled some. We were right in front of the reception desk and no one even came around to wipe down the table for us.
Had to say the food was very excellent. Everything was well prepared and tasty.
What’s funny was we charged the tab to our room as it was easier for us to settle one bill upon checkout. 2 months later we were reached by the restaurant saying there was an accounting error and the tab never got charged to the room. I was pretty sure I filled in the correct room number on the tab. They had to sent us a form to fill in our credit card details. Mistakes happen so I guess it’s no big deal.

Absolute gem in Petaluma!! The food is outstanding!!! They don’t always have Cioppino – but when they do please run don’t walk to get a bowl! The seafood Plateau is delightful and full of yumminess ! And, we had two roasted oysters – miso and poblano are too die for. Poblano oysters – we’re off the charts delicious!!!
And clam chowder is so creamy and rich – perfect!
Lastly – try an oyster shooter – why not?

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner at The Shuckery in Petaluma. From start to finish, the meal was thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully executed.
We began with the Della Fattoria bread basket, which was pure heaven. Warm, crusty slices came with garlic olive oil and sun-dried tomatoes that soaked into the bread like a dream. Next came two baked oysters: the Rockefeller, rich and herbaceous, and the Miso, which added a unique umami twist. Both were excellent.
The Shuck Caesar was a standout. It was classic, crisp, and bold, with whole anchovies that made my salty heart sing. We followed that with two raw oysters from Pt. Reyes, fresh and briny, a perfect palate refresher before the main course.
The seared scallops were the highlight. They were perfectly caramelized on the outside and tender inside, served over a Parmesan like risotto with sesame seed pesto. The risotto could have used a touch more parmesan and seasoning, but the scallops more than made up for it.
Service was warm and attentive. The location inside the historic Hotel Petaluma adds a cozy and upscale charm. Whether you’re an oyster lover or just looking for a memorable seafood experience, The Shuckery delivers.

Myself and my family had an incredibly disappointing experience here for my partner’s birthday. Myself and my partner had two tables booked for this so I called prior to make sure the restaurant knew we were together and to just request if it was at all possible to be seated at least near one another. The host I spoke with was very nice and excited about our celebration and said that they would be able to accommodate but that it would require putting two tables together as their largest size was normally 6. I told her this would be fine and happy that she was going to try and accommodate. When we arrived however, the staff, manager, and host all acted as though there had been no call. Maybe the host had not left notes, but immediately we were chastised. After the whole party arrived, the manager came over to tell us that they needed the table by a certain time and asked me to prove that we had called. I said we had called previously and what the arrangement myself and the host had came to. She claimed to have known nothing of this and asked me to tell her who I talked to. It should not be my responsibility to ensure that their team communicated updates. We did not feel welcome, everyone made sure to know we were inconveniencing them and we were told by multiple staff members to make sure we would leave by a certain time as though we did not hear them.
Really just such a disappointing experience as not only was it a birthday but we are Petaluma locals who love this restaurant and have come many times, sad because we just wanted to show it off to our family.

Great little spot for seafood! We got the calamari, mussels and a caesar salad and all were great especially the mussel broth! Inventive cocktails, the oyster shooter is really fun to try think bloody Mary shot with an oyster on top.

I couldn’t wait to enjoy a nice seafood linguine and the plate was pretty much and Alfredo sauce with seafood. On the menu the dish just mentioned some parmesan and not a ton of milk and cream. I mentioned my disappointment to the sever, but I had no respond from the chef.

Stopped by for the Happy Hour oyster deal from 3-6. Also had clam chowder and the bread basket with garlic dipping. Bread basket was particularly good. Great service, friendly. Liked the black lager beer as well, more body than expected for a lager.
Will def stop by here again when in Petaluma.

Came for dinner with a group. Greeted by amicable staff and quick service. They were able to create a drink not on the menu which was great. The food was fantastic and the cauliflower wings were phenomenal. The fish was also great, sauce and veggies added a good taste. Ambiance was nice – lighting was dim, music was not loud so our group could have a conversation across the table. Free parking on the street or parking garage nearby.
