The Baseline
The Baseline: For a seafood boil restaurant the seafood must be fresh, the sauces must be flavorful, the experience has to make my hands saucy, and the extra offerings must accompany the main boil.

Food: The shrimp and other seafood is fresh and sold per pound. It includes the sauce choice along with the options for the add-ins such as potatoes, sausages, and corn. They offer other Thai inspired offerings such as fried rice, noodles, etc. as well as fries. It actually makes it a bit eclectic but I come here for the shrimp. I get them unpeeled with the heads on so you can snap them and then suck out the juices. It is really good for that and the sauces make them better.

Service: The service is fine here but I only care about the food since I am going to get messy. My water and drinks were not left empty.

Ambiance: This is a good place to eat shrimp right on the Redondo Beach pier. You can view the ocean as you chow down on some shrimp and have a beverage of choice. The bathrooms are a bit left to be desired but they have a separate wash station to clean your hands.

My boyfriend and I were craving seafood one evening and decided to try this restaurant. We were very impressed with the food—the seafood boil was flavorful and perfectly prepared, and the Cajun fries were absolutely delicious.

However, there were a few things that stood out as areas for improvement. We were surprised to learn that payment is required upfront and that it’s cash only, which wasn’t made clear beforehand and how it was told was very abrupt and rude. The restaurant was quite empty during our visit, but the food quality still exceeded our expectations.

Our main concern was the cleanliness of the establishment. While the dining area seemed fine, the bathrooms were in poor condition and definitely needed A LOT of attention.

Overall, the food was fantastic, but some adjustments to cleanliness and transparency around payment policies would enhance the experience.

the food was overall seasoned really well. packed with spices however i could only give three stars because i found a raw shrimp in my boil bag (it was clear and not white/pink). we let them know and nothing happened about that. whatever. not to mention the portion size was smaller than i expected. we ordered the combo which had a half pound of shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels and two snow crab clusters. i could only find less than ten shrimps but okay (including the raw one). they also told us they forgot to charge us for a drink? i clearly remember us getting a drink receipt but either way we paid it. we didn’t cause a problem but i was expecting better service because it all seemed unorganized and the poor server didn’t even know what to do when things went wrong. not to mention they didn’t tell us about an automatic tip but again, all paid for and no problem. would just rather them be fully transparent but seems really unprofessional

Prices on menu were not current, $8 difference from the current price. Must pay for food upon entering restaurant. You are also charged a 13.5% service charge on top of your subtotal.

Older staff woman was rude when I asked for a box instead of using a plastic bag to take my leftovers. She ignored me asking for a box and I had to ask another waiter.

It has been a while since I’ve been there before the pandemic. Before you could walk in, sit down, get your menus. Look over the menu order and pay at the end. Now you look at the menu at the door pay and then take a seat other than that. The service was okay. The waitress was friendly enough. Not too attentive. The food was delicious. We order garlic noodles with chicken, chicken pad thai, and the boil bag of head off shrimp and snow crab, 3 corns and 2 potatoes cut up we enjoyed our drinks, Chardonnay, Thai tea, orange fanta and a
diet coke all that $190. The shrimp and snow crab alone was $56.99 for 1.5 lb which was 2 clawsThe place is still nice and clean. Sitting by the water was wonderful and walking along the pier.

The food is good but diners BEWARE of a service charge automatically added to your meal to “provide shared pay the workers in the restaurant” I was told by the manager (basically they TAKE their tip), in addition to food tax to your bill, hence, your bill for food “may” be high. Also, CASH ONLY and you must order and PAY FIRST before being seated.
However, if one is not pleased with their food, they are accommodating. So far, I’ve never had a problem or complaint with my food or service.

Location is pretty good. Space is a bit small, had to park the stroller off to the side and take our stuff with us. You do order and pay first. They add a surcharge to “pay livable wages”, then they charge an additional 3% to pay with a card. Of course, they have an ATM in the back…
Paid $130 for 2 drinks, 3 lbs of shrimp (added potatoes, corn, and 1 order of sausage) and an order of fried fish, which were nothing more than fish sticks. Shrimp were paltry and the potatoes tasted like curry. We got the medley and it was okay. Not that much to dip into in the bag and no salt/limes provided. Small lemon wedge inside the bag was it. We got no refills and had to ask for more water. Definitely a once and done experience. The lady was very nice but nothing special or exceptional about this place, aside from being close to the pier.

They charge 3% for non-cash payments, including debit. They also charge a 12% service charge that’s supposed to be CLEARLY posted, but isn’t. I had to ask for my receipt to figure out why the math wasn’t mathing ‍♀️. Upon inspecting my receipt, I discovered the prices on the menu don’t match. Whoever’s running this place needs to do better. Let the customers know what they’re paying up front, so there will be no discrepancies, misunderstandings, or feelings of dishonesty and deceit.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The customer service was extremely poor, the food was not good, and the staff had a bad attitude throughout our visit.

What made it worse was the behavior toward my children, which felt rude and unprofessional. There were also inappropriate actions by staff that made the environment uncomfortable for my family.

Overall, everything about this visit was horrible. I would not recommend this place, especially for families.

Especially horrible frozen deep fried food

Ordered the Seafood combo online, to go. It did not have the Dungeness Crab included. Only two snow crab clusters. The ribs were good though and as advertised.
