Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea. Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips. Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place.

Service was great and our meals were very nicely made. The complimentary bread was extremely moreish.
I found it a very refreshing change to have food that was already seasoned to perfection on arrival. Nothing was bland.
We had a Ribeye Steak and fried Haddock (the last one that day!) Both meals were excellent.
Well worth a visit if you’re in the SA1 area of Swansea.
I thought it was Michelin star when I went, turns out it isn’t but I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was.
The waiting team are all friendly and attentive and it’s cool to be able to see the chefs cooking!
I must say the staff here are absolutely amazing, so attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine.
Lunch was excellent. You can see the chefs cooking ,a fabulous experience you won’t be disappointed 5* all round.
Drinks wise they had a good selection of wines available by the glass.
Service was very cold, certainly not something I’m used to, I don’t think any of the staff wanted to be there, my elderly parents felt very unwelcome and have said they’ll never go back which is a shame. Staff didn’t even bother explaining the cheeses on the cheese board.
Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate this type of cooking
The wine menu was equally impressive, with a great selection that complements the food perfectly. It’s clear thought has gone into curating a list that elevates the whole dining experience.
Service was excellent from start to finish, attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. The atmosphere strikes a great balance between relaxed and refined.
My compliments and condolences to the head chef, an incredible job in the kitchen. It truly shows in every detail. I’ll definitely be returning.
The duck breast with chickpea and kale was the star of the show. The duck was incredibly tender and juicy, with a rich, savory flavor. The chickpeas added a nice earthy touch, while the kale brought a slight bitterness that balanced the dish perfectly. Pairing it with a glass of house red wine made it even better, as the wine’s rich notes complemented the savory duck.
I also tried the cockle croquette small plate, and it was a great addition. They were crispy on the outside and filled with a creamy, flavorful mixture of cockles. Absolutely delicious!
The service was fantastic, with friendly and attentive staff making sure everything was perfect. The ambiance was beautiful, with elegant decor and a calm atmosphere that made the evening even more special.
I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy amazing food and great service. Definitely worth a visit!
